Brookwood Baptist Medical Center: Located in Birmingham, this 588 bed facility provides the following services: Brain & Neuro, Cancer Care, Children's Services, Diagnostics, Digestive Disorders, Ear, Nose & Throat, Emergency, Gynecological Surgery, Heart Care, infertility issues, Interventional Radiology, Maternity, Orthopedics, Pain Management, Psychiatry (one of the largest providers in the State), Pulmonary and Respiratory, Rehabilitation Services, Robotic Surgery, Sleep Center, Surgical Services, Urology, Weight Loss Surgery, Women's Health, Workforce Wellness, and Wound Care.

Job Summary
Responsible for providing direct nursing care under the direction of a physician, assists medical providers, and maintains a clean and safe environment in accordance with policies and procedures. To assist in providing direct patient care to assigned patients. To follow the established patient treatment plan and administering and monitoring treatment as required.

Job Responsibilities
Assists physicians by charting, documenting treatment regimen, reporting changes in patient's condition and maintaining accurate patient records. Calls prescriptions in for patients.
Collaborates with the medical personnel caring for the patients. Researches and recommends alternative services as needed.
Educates the patient on medical condition and treatment plan. Participates in patient follow-up activities.
Orders, receives and stores clinic supplies. Performs clerical functions as needed.
Performs direct nursing tasks including taking vital signs, obtaining lab specimens and assisting with minor procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
High School Diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited nursing program.

Certifications
Current State LVN/LPN license and CPR certification.

Organizational Competencies
Attends all mandatory education and training programs (including department specific) and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety and regulatory compliance as well as department safety and specific job-related hazards.
Maintains all required CEUs for certifications and licensure.
Follows the hospital exposure control plans/blood borne and airborne pathogens.
Attire is professional, neat, clean, and appropriate for the work environment, according to the BHS and/or Department Appearance Policy and a high standard of personal cleanliness is maintained.
Reports to work on time and meets acceptable standard for attendance, based upon the department attendance policy.
