We are currently looking for a Director of Commercial Construction Services to work out of our office in Sacramento, California, or remotely from a home office on the West Coast.

What you’ll do:

  • Oversee all Field Labor personnel for commercial construction projects.
  • Oversee all Field Management personnel for commercial construction projects, for all labor, internal or subcontracted.
  • Maintain advanced knowledge of Electrical and General Construction codes, and be the construction subject matter expert for the group.
  • Support and ensure compliance with all safety, risk and compliance requirements.
  • Ensure NEC and UBC Code compliance on installation of all electrical and mechanical components.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager’s, Project Coordinator’s, Support Teams General Superintendents and Crew Lead(s) to ensure the efficient execution of the construction schedules
  • Schedule, communicate and coordinate with General Superintendents the deliverables and expectations of the project(s) budgets, labor resources and schedule
  • Participate in pre-construction construcability, project reviews to determine resource requirements. Assist Pre-construction with initial estimates and budgets for labor hours.
  • Translate, interpret, and ensure adherence of installation to construction schematics, design, specifications and manufacturers recommendations
  • Ensure daily status updates on active construction projects are prepared and issued
  • Manage and lead corrective measures when schedules and or labor budgets slip.
  • Lead and assist in the training of the field construction staff including safety, quality, customer service, efficiency and administrative responsibilities.
  • Ensure all projects are being completed with a high level of safety, quality and adhearance to project design documents
  • Quickly and accurately handle required administrative duties including, but not limited to: training documentation, inspection documentation, project documentation completion, process improvement and creation
  • Review of payroll and timely submission to department manager for approval.
  • Review material/labor variance reports.
  • Review costs and efficiency reports to ensure projects are meeting budgets
  • Maintain updated workforce planning schedule for current and upcoming jobs.
  • Demonstrate competency and confidence in leading mechanical and electrical work on both roof and ground mounted solar projects
  • Politely, effectively and succinctly communicate with customers, vendors, agencies and co-workers
  • Mentor crews to work as a team, build quality, have good work ethics, skills necessary for successful projects.
  • Create a culture of excellence with all field work, field behaviors and the general view and feeling of all external work.
  • Assist with hiring new crews. Review resumes, conduct interviews as necessary.

What you’ll bring:

  • 5 years of hands-on work experience with mechanical and or electrical installation in medium to large scale commercial construction.
  • 5 years of leadership work experience with mechanical and or electrical installation in medium to large scale commercial construction.
  • Continuing education or a degree in Construction Management Is a plus.
  • NABCEP training and or certification is a plus.
  • Maintain a valid Driver’s License and a good driving record.
  • Knowledge of operation of heavy equipment and certification on forklift, scissor lift, boom lift
  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC), Uniform Building Code (UBC), local & utility jurisdiction requirements and OSHA regulations. Journeyman Electrician certification or NABCEP certification preferred.
  • Certified in OSHA 30, required prior to commencement of employment.
  • Ability to determine work priorities and review work for quality and production standards.
  • Must be highly motivated, adaptable, detail-oriented, flexible, and able to work both with a team and independently.
  • Must have excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must excel with multi-tasking, problem-solving, written, and communication skills.

· Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screen.

· Requiring normal safety precautions with minimal occupational health and safety risks

· Moderate to low noise levels

· Requires considerable concentration

· Stresses induced by changing environment, diversity in the organization, strict deadlines and high volume of workload
