Bayport Polymers LLC is Hiring a Manager, Communications Near Pasadena, TX

BASIC FUNCTION
The communications manager will be responsible for implementing comprehensive communication plan that aligns with Baystar’s overall objectives to enhance our reputation, engage stakeholders, and promote Baystar’s products and services. The primary focus of the communications manager is managing all aspects of internal and external communications, including media relations while shaping and executing Baystar’s strategy. 

The ability to effectively craft clear and compelling messages, coordinate communication activities, and maintain consistent and accurate information flow within the organization will be key to success in this role. 
Through strategic vision and creative thinking, the communications manager will strengthen Baystar’s reputation, enhance customer and media engagement, and effectively communicate our value proposition to key stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES
 Internal Communication
• Leadership Support: Advise and provide guidance to senior leadership on internal communications strategies and cultural initiatives. Collaborate with managers to focus on Baystar’s values within their teams.
• Develop and execute an internal communications plan to promote Baystar’s culture and engage employees. This includes creating and delivering compelling content, such as newsletters, intranet updates, memos, presentations, and town hall meetings, to foster a culture of trustworthiness and transparency.
• Build, nurture, and mentor a small team of professionals to execute a multi-faceted communications strategy and continuously develop new methods to achieve the organization’s goals.
• Oversee fun team-building activities, recognition programs, and events that align with Baystar’s values and enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.
• Stay updated on emerging technologies, marketing strategies, and industry best practices to drive continuous innovative improvement.
External Communications and Media Relations
• Support industry relationships around Responsible Care, Texas Chemistry Council, and ACC Plastics Council membership
• Manage all aspects of external communications, including press releases, media relations, corporate presentations, and website content.
• Develop and maintain relationships with media outlets, Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including sales and technical services to gather information and create engaging content that highlights Baystar’s innovative products, and industry leadership. 
• Lead the creation and implementation of integrated marketing and communication campaigns to drive brand awareness, customer loyalty, and market share growth.

Community Relations
• Oversee social investment strategy and execution, developing and leading community outreach programs with employees to create an active and caring presence in the surrounding communities 
• Support and lead involvement in local Community Advisory Panel (SEACAP)

Crisis Communications
• Assist in managing internal communications during times of crisis or change, ensuring consistent and transparent messaging that supports and reinforces Baystar’s culture. 
• Develop and implement crisis communication strategies to address potential issues promptly and effectively, ensuring minimal impact on Baystar’s reputation.
• Own the communication function in a crisis. Serve as Public Information Officer (PIO) and Baystar’s spokesperson, effectively representing Baystar and communicating key messages to the media, industry events, and other external platforms.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Bachelor's degree in communications, or a related field, combined with proven experience as a communications manager or a similar role, with a focus on internal communications and organizational culture.
• Proven experience in communications management, public relations, or related roles within the manufacturing industry, preferably in petrochemicals or a related field. 
• Demonstrated success in developing and executing brand strategies and integrated marketing campaigns.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts in a clear and engaging manner.
• Proficiency in digital marketing platforms, including intranet systems, social media management, and content creation.
• Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong understanding of organizational culture and the ability to translate it into effective communication strategies.
• Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
• Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in internal communications, employee engagement, and employer branding.
• High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 
• Knowledge of the polyethylene industry and related market dynamics is preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE 
• BA/BS in a related field combined with related professional experience in petrochemicals or energy sector 
• Experience working with Joint Venture Boards 
• Experience with manufacturing sites 

PHYSICAL CAPACITY REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the incumbent to:
• Follow safety requirements for the role
• Wear required PPE (eye protection, noise protection, etc.) when inside plant environment, or where directed by signage
• Lift up to 10 pounds
• Walk safely in and around industrial areas
• Work under deadline pressure within an environment that demands attention to safety and detail
• Sit or stand for extended periods of time
• Work at computer for significant periods of time throughout the day
