Summary:
The Registered Dietitian II, with specialty certification, is responsible to provide optimal medical nutrition therapy to patients, individuals or groups through comprehensive nutrition assessment and counseling for disease management, treatment and/or prevention. Defines nutritional status, makes recommendations and implements nutrition interventions. Required Licensure includes Registered Dietitian through CDR and licensure through the State of Florida; in addition to one of the following certifications: Certified Lactation Counselor, Certified Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition, Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, Certified Nutrition Support Clinician, Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition, Certified Specialist in Renal Nutrition, Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics, Certified Specialist in Gerontological Nutrition, Board Certified Specialist in Pediatric Critical Care Nutrition, Board Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management, Nutrition Wound Care Certified, or Advanced Practitioner Certification in Clinical Nutrition. Must maintain 10 hours of continuing credit in specialty area; unless retesting every 5 years is required. Effective January 1, 2024, a graduate degree is required for those not initially credentialed by 12/31/23. A graduate degree includes a master’s degree, practice doctorate, doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, EdD or, DSc).
