JOB SUMMARY

The grounds keeper/person is responsible for maintaining grounds of property using hand or power tools or equipment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Perform various tasks such as sod laying, mowing, trimming, planting, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, repairs as needed, and sprinkler installation
• Gather and remove litter
• Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge, or brush trimmers
• Operates vehicles or powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, chainsaws, electric clippers, sod cutters, or pruning saws
• Water lawns, trees, or plants using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans
• Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges, using shears pruners or chain saws
• Perform daily maintenance and safety checks on equipment
• Generate and maintain accurate job aid for duties assigned
• Ensure compliance of all safety procedures and policies while promoting company’s safety culture
• Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• High School Diploma or GED required
• At least 5 years’ experience in landscaping and grounds keeping

SKILLS / KEY COMPETENCIES

• Knowledge of trucks and other equipment
• Ability to understand computerized controls and electronics
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Exercise discretion and independent judgement when handling day to day information
• Excellent time-management skills to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks and responsibilities to meet deadlines and adjust to changing priorities
• Ability to work cooperatively across all levels delivering on commitments – results oriented
• Ability to complete work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure to meet department targets and deadlines
• Ability to work non-routine hours, when necessary
• Ability and willingness to travel as required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to work outdoors, exposed to heat and humidity, cold and rain, and around heavy traffic areas
• Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another
• Ability to operate job related tools
• Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
• Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
• Ability to sit for extended periods of time, climb up/down equipment, and maintain constant alertness to the multiple concurrent activities of the construction site
