We encourage all qualified individuals, particularly those from historically marginalized groups, to apply.Job Summary: The Floating Safety Monitor flexibly meets short-term needs due to the absence of regular staff and/or unexpected occurrences, promoting a safe and inclusive environment. supporting our agency’s mission, and addressing internal and external community concerns in a proactive and professional manner.This is a non-exempt position.Essential Functions of Position:Flexibly respond to changing conditions due to gaps in safety coverage and/or unanticipated events at one of many service and administrative sites by providing safety monitor services on a short term basis at the direction of the Director of Safety and SecurityMonitor and support the wellbeing of individuals and families receiving services, agency staff and community membersAssist in providing access to agency service settings and providers, and ensure that those who access them have a legitimate reason for doing soAssist those in agency settings to easily locate and arrive at their intended destinationsMove throughout and monitor conditions in the locations where services and administrative support are provided, on a regular and frequent basisCommunicate with agency staff regarding routine and emergent activities in the setting in a professional manner and respond promptly and satisfactorilyDocument routine and unexpected events in a format provided by the agencyCollaborate with staff to address safety concerns and effectively address them as part of a teamAs needed, assist in supporting individuals who would benefit from intervention including de-escalation and other approaches to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all involvedCoordinate with public safety services as needed, assisting them in attending to situations for which their assistance has been requestedMaintain and model professional relationships and boundaries with those receiving services Serve as a community diplomate and represents Bay Cove Human Services as a good neighbor and responsive community partnerBuild relationships with neighboring businesses to assist with conflict resolution, as needed. Qualifications:High school diploma or GEDExperience working with vulnerable populationsExperience with de-escalation techniques or crisis interventions preferredPhysical Qualifications:Must frequently lift/or move up to 25 poundsSpecific visual abilities required include close vision and peripheral visionRegularly required to stand, walk and talk and hearOccasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and assist with operating the wheelchair lift. Dress Code:Employees will be provided with clothing to identify them as security. Garments to be provided include short sleeve collared shirt, and long sleeve dress shirt. A winter jacket and raincoat will be provided and need to be returned at the end of the shift. Employees are required to wear tan colored khaki pants and proper shoes. This job description is intended only to provide general guidance.
