Your Role at Baxter
The Sr Principal Engineer, Manufacturing will have a solid understanding of theories/practices utilized by other disciplines outside the primary area of expertise toward the development of new or enhanced products or processes. Plans, executes and functionally directs important engineering assignments, which require independent judgment.
What you'll be doing
Applies state of the art techniques in the area of expertise to develop new or improved products and processes.
Independently plants, schedules and leads teams through the planning and execution of large projects or programs. This includes constructing detailed, accurate project schedules and interfacing with technical support groups.
Performs financial planning and assists in the analysis to justify project approval.
Devises new approaches to complex problems through adaptations and modifications of standard technical principles. Supports manufacturing group through improvements to manufacturing equipment and processes.
Reviews equipment trends to identify areas of improvement related to yield, downtime, efficiency, etc.
Works within small project teams as a subject matter expert and/or project leader to accomplish project objectives including process improvements and project implementation.
Investigates and analyzes customer problems and develops improvements.
Performs and documents process modifications, and system functional specification updates while adhering to documentation and change control requirements.
Prepares standard operating procedures for new and existing control equipment.
Contributes and/or manages cost estimating of major capital budget items and the spending of approved project funds.
May supervise one or more engineers or technicians.
What you'll bring
B.S. degree in Engineering and 8 years of experience.
Demonstrated success in delivering results on several technical challenges.
Experience with programming and troubleshooting robotics and vision inspection systems.
Experience in a pharmaceutical or medical device environment, writing and reviewingvalidation and change control documentation.
Five years working in GMP or biomedical environment as an automation/controls engineer.
Must have experience or advanced training and demonstrate proficiency (e.g. computer-aided design, total quality management, statistical methods, problem analysis and resolution, materials science, design of experiments, software development).
Completely proficient in relevant products or process development processes.
Successful track record of managing wide-ranging activities within the business unit.
Demonstrates leadership skills.
Recognized as a technical expert by peers and other personnel within the business unit.
Display a solid understanding of theories/practices utilized by other disciplines outside primary area of expertise.
Ability to convince management on courses of action with minimal assistance using both written and verbal methods.
Effectively operate in/lead and may facilitate cross-functional teams with guidance.
Must be able to provide solutions that reflect understanding business objectives and cost implications.
Knowledge of cGMP principals.
Perform cost/benefit analysis.

At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $112,000 - $154,000 annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors. This position may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
