Your role at Baxter
  • The Field Service Technician is a key customer facing position that represents the Baxter brand in clinical and hospital settings. This position manages an assigned territory and travels to perform installation, repair, training, and other services on medical devices.
  • This is where you are hands-on and enjoy interacting with customers, working autonomously, traveling, and applying technical knowledge on medical devices!

  • You'll be traveling up to 75%. When not traveling, you'd be working remotely!

What you'll be doing
  • Manage assigned territory and travels to install, check out, operate, maintain, repair, and modify equipment within established time requirements.
  • Primary customer contact and provides technical direction and support to customers on service issues.
  • Analyze equipment failures to determine root cause in order to recommend and perform corrective action.
  • Schedule service calls with customers in accordance with current procedures.
  • Maintain performance and maintenance records on the equipment.
  • Provide guidance and training to customer personnel in establishing operation, maintenance, inspection procedures, and techniques.
  • Advise and assist in effecting design changes to improve equipment efficiency and/or reduce cost of operations.
  • May participate in installation planning phase.
  • May travel to assist other Field Service Technician's outside of assigned territory area.
  • May mentor and train other Field Service Technicians as needed.
  • May lead or work on projects as assigned.
  • Maintain customer good will through effective and timely communication of all services rendered, on-site arrival time service, and operator issues.
  • Adheres to all environmental, health and safety SOP's, equipment, policies, and procedures, including any department specific requirements.
  • Display product proficiency across multiple serviced devices and products.
What you'll bring
  • Excellent communication skills required, as well as ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work in healthcare settings such as hospitals and clinics and abide by customer credentialling & personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements including, but not limited to gowning and facial masks.
  • Preferred IT knowledge on general connectivity, network integration of devices, wireless protocols, mobile network technologies, software support and cyber security standards Familiar with data analysis concepts and tools such as Microsoft office applications (Outlook, Excel, etc.)
  • Experience in electro-mechanical or electronic technology systems required.
  • Basic mathematical skills in addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions are required.
  • Requires the ability to carry out the physical requirements of the job including kneeling and standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, lifting, pulling, twisting.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move in excess of 50 pounds using lifting aids, technologies, or appropriate assistance.
  • Must be able to sit and drive extended distances as per region requirements or fly for a number of hours. Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to travel 75% including overnight stays as the need arises.
  • Bachelor's Degree plus 2 years' relevant experience, OR
  • Associate degree plus 5 years of experience in field service, electronics, technical, etc., OR
  • In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 or more years field service or biomedical technician, electronics, technical, etc., with electro-mechanical troubleshooting experience.

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. The estimated base salary for this position is $52,800K- $72,600K annually. The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position. We may pay more or less than of the anticipated range based upon market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on upon location, skills and expertise, experience, and other relevant factors.
