Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Software Eng ineer to join our team in Sterling VA within the Simulation and Training Solutions (STS) business area. STS develops and builds highly realistic simulators and training systems for both military and commercial customers. We utilize cutting-edge technology (VR, haptic feedback, gamified scenarios) to deliver highly specialized training for some of the most demanding jobs in aviation. Devices range in complexity from desktop training all the way up to high-fidelity weapon systems and full flight training systems, including full visual motion and simulator interoperability.
In this position, you will assist in designing, implementing, and testing multi-threaded software applications and their associated user interfaces. You will work in a fast-paced, modern agile development environment and collaborate closely with systems, hardware, and test to build advanced, mission-focused capabilities and features. This position requires an active US security clearance. Most aspects of the job are done in a classified lab environment, and this position requires a daily onsite presence. This position is located onsite at our Sterling, VA site. Eligible for relocation.
What you will do:

• Design, develop, integrate, and test software on cross-functional agile teams to deliver solutions within budget, scope, and schedule constraints.
• Perform bidding and proposal activities to support the acquisition of new business.
• Make and influence decisions which impact cost, schedule, and technical performance at a team level.
• Highly motivated full-stack software development focal
• Perform multi-threaded software debugging.
• Work independently with limited supervision
• Provide engineering estimates.
• Contribute to software and systems engineering requirements capture and analysis.

Education and experience:

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance. The selected candidate will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.

Skills you must have:

• Must have previous experience working with C .
• Experience with agile development practices and general software engineering design principles.

The salary range for this role is 85,000 USD - 179,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
