Sanitation Worker - 3rd Shift - 9:30pm - 6:00am

The Sanitation Worker is responsible for any number of duties to ensure high quality sanitation standards are met in Production, Shipping, and Distribution. We hold the qualify and food safety of our product to the highest level, and a sanitary work environment is essential for ensuring food safety and that a high-quality product is delivered to our customers. Follows all safety procedures as set forth by the Company.

This position is based in Chicago, IL, this is warehouse environment and reports to the Facility Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Works towards coordinating and executing plant sanitation procedures and programs daily to ensure all plant equipment is clean and safe for production.
  • Strictly adhere to and champions sanitation, GMP’s, safety, and company standards.
  • Perform cleaning and sanitation activities according to Master Sanitation Schedules for the equipment and facility.
  • You will oversee the proper storage, labeling, and handling/use of all cleaning supplies, chemicals, and disinfecting equipment.
  • Actively solve problems related to sanitation.
  • Follow up on work orders to ensure completion of the requested of the requested work.
  • Monitor the chemical storage/inventories and dispense the appropriate concentrations for cleaning for cleaning activities.
  • Sweeps and cleans entire warehouse to maintain required level of cleanliness.
  • Empties trash bins and cleans trash area daily; operates trash compactor when applicable.
  • You will focus on maintaining high-quality sanitary conditions in a manufacturing facility by performing various duties, including production lines and equipment, bathrooms, locker rooms, hallways, breakrooms, processing, etc.

Personal Qualifications:

  • This position requires knowledge and awareness of manufacturing and industrial Protective gear will be required where appropriate. Position requires ability to work overtime, varying start times and weekends dependent on business needs.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds, stack/unstack or carry, stand and/or stoop for prolonged periods of time (except for break and lunch periods), climb, perform repetitive motions, and work in a dusty, loud, and hot environment.
  • You act with a Continuous Improvement (CI) mindset and focus on improving efficiencies while decreasing waste.

Education and Formal Training:

  • Minimum of 6 months of sanitation experience in the food industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals.
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and GMP principles.
  • Sense of urgency and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong energy level to execute sanitation schedule and pride in maintaining a safe and sanitary work environment.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred or a combination of experience.
