Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Managing Director of Sales & Marketing to work as part of our leadership team to manage the company’s sales activities, including driving the sales and marketing strategy throughout the organization, expanding our lead and opportunity pipeline, and increasing revenue through the further development of our sales and marketing functions. This role works with Bates Practice Leaders and other senior management to further develop the existing sales and marketing systems, processes, and team to facilitate overall firm growth and meet our growth objectives. The Managing Director is a seasoned leader and proven manager with considerable experience in growing a small business with expertise in strategic sales planning and execution, marketing, business development, budgeting, and resource management, and is expected to foster innovation and creativity while continuing to build a high-performance teams that delivers on the firm’s mission and vision.

Key Responsibilities

The Managing Director of Sales and Marketing will be responsible for working with senior leadership to grow the company’s revenue in its markets. Specific responsibilities and activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Driving sales and marketing alignment to accelerate company growth and provide a cohesive sales experience for our clients. Typically, this involves having detailed sales goals, strategies, systems, and processes to work as a unified organization.
  • Work across all parts of the firm to ensure brand messages are cohesive within all marketing, communications, partnerships, and sales materials and drive a sales and data-driven organization.
  • Develop a highly scalable and data-driven marketing and communications strategy.
  • Provide regular reporting and presentations on growth metrics for the CEO and Board.
  • Create and implement sales strategies and support the development and ongoing management of strategic account plans and net new business development. Champion the usage of internal technologies to facilitate sales management and sales enablement.
  • Conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and expansion opportunities.
  • Work with marketing and sales team to coordinate and arrange client events, meetings, appointments, and conferences, including ROI of such events.
  • Develop plans and budgets with Practice Directors to meet financial targets that align with firm-wide growth goals and initiatives.
  • Work with sales and marketing team to identify client profiles, market positioning, customer case examples, etc. and work across the firm to communicate details of targeted clients.
  • Assist with the development and approval of annual sales plans and the overall firm sales strategy and forecasting, including the regular management and reporting of the firm’s sales pipeline.
  • Support the development of pricing and margin strategies, including the tracking and reporting of these strategies across all clients, practices, and team members.
  • Work with team to identify and continue to build the sales and marketing team to enable revenue growth.
  • Assist in the construction and administration of sales-related compensation plans.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated professional services sales experience and understanding, including financial goal setting, pipeline reporting, revenue forecasting, and monitoring of progress toward financial goals.
  • Proven history in professional services growth strategies, sales operations, business planning, and marketing initiatives.
  • Experience with developing and delivering on strategic sales plans.
  • Experience using and leading teams that use HubSpot CRM
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with all levels of the team and across all functions within the organization.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks with respect to urgent or changing needs.
  • Able to work independently or collaboratively with other team members.
  • Must demonstrate effective problem solving and analytical skills while using good judgement.

Desired Skills

  • College degree required.
  • Previous experience in professional services or financial institutions is preferred.
