THIS POSITION IS OPEN COMPETITIVE AND PROMOTIONAL TO BOTH INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL CANDIDATES

Hours: 8 Hours/Day (Monday-Friday 7:00AM-3:30PM)

Eligibility Lists: One eligibility list will be created from this recruitment.
This is a continuous examination process and may close at any time, with little or no notice. An application review may occur at any time and qualified candidates who have submitted applications will be invited to participate in the testing process. Qualified applicants submitting applications after the review date will be considered in the next examination process. This list will be utilized to fill any vacancies that may occur during the one year life of the Eligibility List, which may include temporary positions. The list generated from this recruitment will be used to fill both substitute and permanent vacancies in the District. 

BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, observes and monitors campus to assure general compliance with school and District policies and regulations; reports unusual activities to authorized personnel; and maintains campus safety through the monitoring and directing of students during classroom and non-classroom activities before, during and after school hours.Patrols campus by looking for wandering students and unidentified visitors and checks them for valid passes.
Monitors students and non-students on campus and the parking lot before, during, and after school to ensure safety and rule compliance.
Unlocks/locks gates, bathrooms, classrooms, hallways, and other school property using master keys.
Monitors and secures campus entrances by checking IDs and appropriate passes for all non-student visitors.
Directs and/or accompanies students and/or visitors around campus.
Enforces parking regulations and oversees entrance to school by directing car and human traffic to ensure safety of arriving students and staff.
Monitors the perimeter of campus groups to discourage loitering by non-students.
Directs tardy students and reports late teachers to attendance office, and directs students to a waiting area until the tardy teachers arrive.
Addresses and resolves conflicts on campus applying approved interventions and informing campus security.
Identifies students who may require protective monitoring by identifying who is harassing the student, and reporting the actions to administrators or security.
Confiscates unapproved items, including phones, cameras, and skateboards, by walking students or confiscated items to discipline office when students are using the items in violation of rules.
Performs minor requests from teachers or administrators, such as transporting students around campus, delivering messages to and from teachers, unlocking doors, transporting attendance lists or other counts, and various other simple projects.
Monitors students in classroom to ensure safety and rule compliance when the teacher is late or needs to leave the classroom temporarily.
Perform related duties as assigned. EXPERIENCE:
Six (6) months experience either in paid or volunteer status, which indicates your ability to work with groups of adolescents and adults in an organized setting.
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
Some positions may require a designated second language.

SCREENING PROCESS
2 - Applications will be screened to select the most qualified candidates. The screening process for this position, which may be subject to modification, will include some form of a(n): application screening, initial qualifications screening, documentation/certification screening, and supplemental application screening. Examination dates may change or be canceled without advance notice. 

The examination may consist of any combination of a(n): training and experience (T&E) evaluation, written knowledge test, structured panel interview, situational judgement interview, or other type of exam of fitness for duty. All parts of the examination process are job related. A passing score must be attained on each portion of the exam to advance to the next stage and ultimate placement on an eligibility list.

EXAM PROTESTS

Protest of any part of the exam process must be in writing and submitted to the Personnel Director no later than five (5) working days from the date you participated in the exam. Any protest must include rationale to support the protest and shall include supporting documentation or references. Protests must be based on illegal discrimination, abuse of discretion, or procedure/process error. Protests should NOT be based on receiving unexpected results. We cannot be responsible for lost mail, misdirected mail, or failure of mail to be delivered after it has been entrusted to the U.S. Postal Service.

ESTABLISHMENT OF ELIGIBILITY

Candidates who are successful in all screening and testing stages will be placed on an eligibility list. Typically, an eligibility list for a classification expires after one (1) year. Candidates on the expired eligibility list are no longer considered for positions within the class. Eligibility lists may be extended beyond one year or expire sooner than one year. Eligibility lists may be merged, in which case candidate ranks may change.

SELECTION PROCESS

Candidates on the eligibility list will be called in rank order to participate in final selection interviews with the hiring manager until three ranks of candidates have accepted the invitation to interview. Ranks may include ties so more than three candidates may be called to interview for one vacancy. Please note that candidates will be removed from the eligibility list for declining the invitation to interview more than three (3) times.

OFFERS OF EMPLOYMENT

Official offers of employment are ONLY made by the Bassett Unified School District Personnel Commission office. Offers are subject to satisfactory completion of ALL the pre-employment processing including: successful completion of a drug test, tuberculosis examination, fingerprint clearance by the California Department of Justice, and proof of eligibility to work in the United States.

ADVANCED STEP PLACEMENT

All new regular classified employees shall be paid in accordance with the salary range established for the class to which assigned. Initial placement will normally be the first step of the salary range. However, a new employee may receive advanced step placement with an approval from the Personnel Commission. Requests for advanced step must be submitted in writing to the Personnel Commission office before the employee's first day of work. 

Approval will be based on the following criteria:

a. Additional qualifying experience beyond that required for entry into the class.

b. Additional education at the college level when related to the position, beyond the established educational requirements for entry into the class.

c. Evidence of currently receiving a salary greater than the first step of the salary for the classification.
