As a AR/VR Hardware Test Engineer (long term contract) at Meta AR/VR, you will be responsible for design, development and bring-up of testing equipment in support of AR/VR products. You will join an agile team that is laser-focused on incubating winning prototypes, establishing new process capabilities with supply-chain partners, and releasing product sub-systems that are fully hardened for high-volume manufacturing (HVM). We want someone who can drive conceptual optical/optomechanical system hardware design in an early product exploration stage, validate first article design in the lab and deploy in factories including equipment, fixtures and algorithms. You will enforce manufacturability, testability, and ensure cost-effective designs are implemented for testing and automation systems, software and equipment. This position will have responsibilities for NTI and NPI test development and bridge to sustaining support for production
Responsibilities
Develop, deploy and validate advanced optical test stations involving illumination sources (LED, lasers, lamps, etc.), motorized stages, and a variety of optical elements (lenses, diffractive gratings, mirrors, etc.) and accompanying software infrastructure for AR/VR products, both internally and externally
Work with internal and external team to design and manufacture custom test fixtures and develop imaging/data processing script/algorithm
Provide written documentation of procedures, setups, and experimental results with strong attention to detail
Own the standardization and optimization of the test processes to enhance quality and operational efficiency in production
Collaboratively drive to close potential test gaps and correlations issues
Key Qualifications
Master/Ph.D. in relevant engineering disciplines with backgrounds in optical system design and metrology
Strong knowledge in measurement system analysis and production control processes, GR&R interpretation, Cp/Cpk and correlation analysis; ability to present and communicate results clearly and effectively
Experience in using interferometers like Zygo to measure form error. E
Experience in using spectrophotometer/spectroscopy to measure transmittance/reflectance/haze
Experience in lens optical performance metrology, e.g. EFL, MTF
Strong Matlab/Python programming skills on digital image processing and data analysis
Consistent track record (3 years of experience) in delivering complex test solution for laser/display/camera from NPI to mass production, preferably in a high volume consumer electronics environment
Hands-on experience in testing equipment bring-up, qualification, throughput optimization and troubleshooting
Ability to travel to the US-based manufacturing sites to work face to face with the local test/quality engineering teams
