Job SummaryThis position will be filled at the Surgical Technician I or II level.
Surgical Technician IUnder general supervision, performs the full range of Surgical Technician functions and tasks with full proficiency (journey level). At this level, the incumbent has at least one year of Surgical Technician experience or has completed an accredited program. Incumbents also may be assigned to provide more surgical assistance to the team as directed by the Surgeon.
Surgical Technician IIUnder general direction, positions serve as a knowledgeable resource for the lower levels, provide training and mentoring (preceptor), and are typically the subject matter expert for one or more service areas.

At This Level, Incumbents
- Serve as preceptor for area(s) the incumbent is a subject matter expert.
- Actively participate in decision making and education of staff concerning acquisition of new equipment and supplies.
- Develop and delivers a minimum of three educational topics per year to Operating Room staff.
Minimum Qualifications For The JobSurgical Technician I ($26.90 - $$31.65/hour):
- Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Experience: One (1) year of surgical technician experience that included working in all service areas such as general surgery, gynecology, otolaryngology (ENT), urology, orthopedics.
- Preferred Experience: Working in service areas such as obstetrics, endoscopy, and ophthalmology.
- Substitution: Six (6) months experience as a Surgical Technician Trainee and completion of Bartlett’s trainee program OR Completion of an accredited Surgical Technician or Surgical Technologist Program may substitute for the required experience.
- Certification(s): Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Experience: Two (2) years of Surgical Technician experience that included assignment in three or more specialty areas such as, but not limited to: general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, endoscopy, otolaryngology (ENT), urology, orthopedics.
- Certification(s): Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
