Bartlett Park District Apple Orchard Golf Course is Hiring a Nature Center Day Camp Coordinator Near Bartlett, IL

Job Summary:

The Coordinator is responsible for the direction, safety and supervision of all site supervisors, counselors, volunteers, campers, and Nature Center Camp activities. They will also participate in day-to-day planning, and organizing and implementing of all aspects of the Summer Camp. This is an at-will position. Other duties and responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for supervising Site Supervisors, Counselors and Volunteers.
  • Work with staff to develop weekly lesson plans to cover basic activities for camp. Give needed supply lists to the Nature Center Coordinator to order at least three weeks prior to event.
  • Monitor camp areas and equipment for any safety concerns. Promptly report anything outside your ability to fix or address.
  • Assist in record keeping with sign-in/sign-out, Epact, taking attendance, keeping each child’s information sheet up to date, and filling out accident/incident reports as needed.
  • Arrange for substitute Site Supervisors, Counselors and Volunteers when needed.
  • Run and/or participate in staff trainings, staff meetings and communicate with staff.
  • Communicate with the Coordinator and/or Manager on a regular basis about problems, solutions, questions.
  • Review staff performances throughout the summer and evaluate formally at the end of the season.
  • Coordinate with NWSRA as needed.
  • Comply with the District’s Dress Code by coming to work in clean, presentable clothing and wearing an employee name tag.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

High School graduate or equivalent. Must be 21 years of age, with an understanding of day camp procedures. Prior experience working with children required. Preference given to those with a degree in elementary education or related field or comparable experience. Requires strong people and customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively with the staff and public. Must have current CPR and First Aid training or receive it prior to start date. Must have a valid Illinois Driver’s License and be able to provide own transportation.


Schedule & Pay:

This is a part-time, seasonal position. Hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00AM-3:30PM. Starting pay rate is $14.50 per hour PLUS applicaple facility and program discounts.
