Position Title: Occupational Therapy Program Manager.
Agency/Program: Freedom House X Secret Garden X BFL Apartments X.
Supervisor: Chief Program Officer.
Exempt Full-Time
Full Time X
Hours Per Week: 35.
Salary: 95,000$.
Start Date: Immediate.

Barrier Free Living
Barrier Free Living (BFL) is dedicated to helping New Yorkers with disabilities live independently in the community. Through its various programs, BFL provides a broad range of residential and nonresidential services to disabled survivors of domestic violence, transitional shelter to the disabled homeless, and outreach to physically disabled individuals with mental health and/or chemical addiction issues. Services include case management; housing placements; independent living skills training; occupational therapy; short and long-term individual counseling; advocacy within the medical, mental health, child welfare, law enforcement, and criminal justice systems; and referrals to outside services.
Position Summary:
The Occupational Therapy Program Manager plays a pivotal role as a liaison between Barrier Free Living (BFL) and occupational therapy schools seeking clinical sites for their students. These interns take the lead in providing direct services to our clients under your guidance. Responsibilities include coordinating intern schedules, providing supervision to ensure client-centered interventions, and aligning program activities with organizational goals. You will contribute to the development of educational materials, and foster a positive learning environment for interns with the overarching goal of enhancing BFL clients' well-being through impactful wellness services. 
Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • New York State Occupational Therapy License.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ clinical experience working in Community Mental Health with at least one year of supervisory experience in Occupational Therapy.
  • Awareness of trauma-informed provision of services, and sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the populations served.
  • Must have strong leadership skills, a good ability to work collaboratively with professionals, ability to set appropriate limits with clients/tenants/residents and coworkers, excellent written and verbal communication skills, excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Computer Proficiency (FamCare electronic documentation, Google Office Suite).
  • Must have strong ability to work independently.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/ASL) preferred.
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinates OT intern program by developing clinical affiliation agreements with accredited institutions.
  • Lead a comprehensive wellness program by working with program leadership to identify primary goals and role of OT on site.
  • Organizes ongoing intern rotation/schedule with academic institutions.
  • Conducts interviews, screens and assigns OT interns to the various programs within BFL.
  • Provides weekly group and individual supervision to interns that meet AOTA (American Occupational Therapy Association) standards.
  • Supervises OT service provision at designated site, including evaluation, treatment planning, and OT-related activities.
  • Reviews and co-signs all documentation found in client/resident/tenant charts produced by interns.
  • Collaborates with academic fieldwork coordinators regularly regarding intern progress/lack of progress.
  • Maintains all intern-related paperwork (i.e., student manual, med clearance, info sheets, school contracts, performance evaluations).
  • Develops and provides an array of OT resources to interns for professional development via journals, in-service/training announcements, textbooks, publications, and web resources.
  • Participate in regular site visits conducted by fieldwork coordinators from various academic institutions.
  • Demonstrates assessments, screenings, intakes, and facilitates groups with OT interns at assigned sites.
  • Participates in scheduled program-related meetings, trainings, and case consultations.
  • Maintains and keeps inventory of all OT supplies and equipment needed at each site.
  • Communicates and collaborates with support staff re: all OT-related issues.
  • Collaborates with staff to plan program-wide special events to foster engagement and community-building.
  • Generates monthly reporting/statistics of OT services provided at each site.
  • Participates in outreach and collaborates with partner organizations.
