POSITION: Lead Teacher of BPS PreSchool/Pre-K Room

JOB GOAL: The lead teacher will provide a nurturing and safe environment to assist children in reaching age appropriate milestones. The lead teacher will demonstrate good judgment in the care and play with each child. 

REPORTS TO: Directorof BPSCDC

QUALIFICATIONS:

EEC Lead Teacher certification (PreSchool/PK level preferred);

High school diploma or G.E.D;

Associates degree in early childhood education preferred;

Lead Teacher experience (infant/toddler or preschool level).

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Lead Teacher responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

1. Assist children with activities of daily life (restroom use, hand washing, etc);
2. Appropriately supervise children while keeping them safe at all times;
3. Engage children in activities and play that stimulates their development;
4. Approach parents daily and speak with them about their child(ren); 
5. Create and maintain an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for all children;
6. Establish a professional level of rapport with each family in order to provide quality care and friendly service;
7. Supervise teacher assistants in the classroom and ensure they are following program policy and customer service expectations; 
8. Plan daily activities that are developmentally appropriate for young children;
9.  Maintain a professional self-image and project the values of the organization at all times;
10. Work cooperatively with BHS early education and care educators and students.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Able to lift children up to 50 pounds from the floor to waist high; 
• Crouch to a child’s height and maintain eye contact at a child’s level; 
• Stand or sit for long periods of time; to walk up and down stairs;
• Must be able to sit on the floor or in child sized furniture; 
• Must be able to proactively take precautions to ensure the health and safety of all children, parents, staff and themselves when coming in contact with children who are ill and/or contagious. 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a non-affiliated position. 40 hours per week. 185 work days (3 days before students and 1 day after students plus school recess days. Not eligible for paid vacation days.
