Barnes Industrial has an exciting, and challenging career opportunity within its Barnes Molding Solutions (BMS) SBU. As Director Operations and Plant Leader in our facility in Peabody, MS-Americas, this role is responsible for overseeing, leading and managing Operational Excellence. This includes improving the operational structure of our production facility aligned with the lean management approach, focusing on Opex and directing, and executing our operational strategy for profitable, sustainable growth. This includes implementing key business initiatives on a foundation of continuous improvement, team development, and strategy deployment. The role requires leading the Lean Continuous Improvement efforts to enable core business execution and deliver improved and consistent results in Safety, Cost, Quality, On-Time-Delivery and Customer Service. Core Responsibilities: 

  • Ownership of the operational strategy to accelerate customer value creation in the region.
  • Lean Continuous Improvement efforts MS-Americas sites to enable core business execution and deliver improved and consistent results in Safety, Cost, Quality, On-Time-Delivery and Customer Service.
  • Leads the Operations in Peabody and is driving for Operational Excellence
  • Partners with the regional leadership team to drive the productions in MS Americas to high performance
  • Experienced in Operational Strategy Deployment to accelerate customer value creation in the region
  • Develop and deploy solutions to drive improved supply chain reliability, lower cost of manufacturing, and increased customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment in compliance with company standards for all employees.
  • Champion the development and execution of our BES roadmap to transform and standardize our manufacturing operations, with lean process optimization, people development, and focused capital deployment.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on operating costs within functional areas; develop and implement action plans related to same.
  • Strengthen internal controls and processes to drive accountability throughout the organization.
  • Enable paperless capabilities and advanced data analytics resulting in proactive and faster decision making.
  • Develop and maintain an effective and engaged workforce through training, personal development, motivation, and recognition; to ensure attainment of short- and long-term growth objectives.
  • Ability to travel – 25%

Qualifications: 

  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years of operations, manufacturing/engineering experience.
  • Has an understanding and experience with automated systems, software, and controls, industrial, chemical, or mechanical engineering and support of chemical process systems and automated, semi-automated and manually operated manufacturing equipment.
  • Can analyze and identify improvement areas and approaches through lean methods, statistical analysis, or Six Sigma techniques
  • Understands change, including how people react to it and proactively plan for the various stages of transformational and transitional change and the effect of that change.
  • Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement
  • Acknowledges the changing business environment and is comfortable to change. An ability to persuade others through communication and fact-based information. Effective change agent skills to help the organization meet goals and objectives
  • Strong business acumen and ability to think strategically with demonstrated accomplishments.
  • Ability to scale organization change and talent with strong business and HR partnerships.
  • Impeccable integrity; superior interpersonal skills; able to communicate and engage personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Emotionally intelligent change agent who challenges the status quo and acts with a sense of urgency to drive results.
  • Balance consistency with flexibility, and willing to change and adapt in the face of new information.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related discipline required. MBA or advanced degree preferred.
