Barnabas Health Medical Group is Hiring a Patient representative Near Franklin, NJ

Job Overview :

Our Patient Access Representatives is a Hybrid positions which provides prompt and consistent service to support RWJBarnabas Health’s mission to become the leading academic and preferred community network throughout the state of New Jersey for patients who seek exceptional care fostered by fully integrated, interdisciplinary approaches to the prevention and treatment of illness.

Manages all incoming calls, external and internal referrals for appointment scheduling. Fields incoming inquiries and requests, matching patients to the best possible service, physician, and appointment based on their diagnosis, geographic location and preference.

Provides friendly service for patients and caregivers, referring providers, RWJBH providers and staff. Ensures all required demographic, financial, referral / authorization, clinical, and other registration data is accurately scheduled, collected, verified, and communicated appropriately.

This position is primarily remote however the first 5 weeks of training will be in person. After successful completion of training, you will work remotely but will be required to come into the office as needed.

Qualifications : Required :

Required :

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • One to three (1-3) years of Customer Service Experience
  • Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to talk and type simultaneously.

Preferred :

  • Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree
  • High volume phone or call center experience
  • Experience in healthcare
  • Ability and interest to learn clinical information and criteria
  • Flexibility to work any shift during operating hours and to work from home as warranted
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology

Scheduling Requirements :

  • Shift working : 8 hours between the timeframe of 8 : 00 a.m. - 6 : 00 p.m. (start and end times may vary)
  • Day Shift
  • Full Time Monday through Friday
  • 5 Weeks of training required in Somerset, Edison or New Brunswick, NJ

Essential Functions :

  • Schedules and confirms patient care appointments across all clinical areas and specialties
  • Demonstrates good judgment in scheduling visit types that best meet the needs / availability of the patient while also supporting system objectives, policies, and procedures
  • Verifies insurance eligibility and gathers all other detailed information required for registration and patient charting
  • Accurately documents patient information, questions or notes in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
  • Demonstrates exceptional customer service and appropriate telephone etiquette at all times
  • Promptly handle patient complaints, issues or problems and escalate to Supervisor or department as appropriate
  • Maintains confidentiality and legal / ethical guidelines for safeguarding patient and proprietary system information
