Bark Avenue Pet House, LLC is Hiring a Kennel Technician/Dog Handler Near Milford, CT

PREVIOUS EXPERINCE IN ANIMAL CARE OR CUSTODIANSHIP/JANITORIAL EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS, BUT NOT REQUIRED IF A GOOD, PASSIONATE FIT FOR THE JOB IS PRESENTED. Requirements:

-Previous experience working with animals, such as in a kennel or veterinary setting OR a desire and passion for animals and to learn and take on the trade

-Ability to come to work reliably, should not be calling out more than once every two months

-Previous experience cleaning and maintaining a kennel environment or other similar environment

-Experience handling groups of dogs- up to 20 dogs.

-Excellent observation skills and attention to detail

-Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

-Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

-Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings as needed

-Must have good time management skills and must be able to follow a list of pre-designated tasks for your shift.

-Ability to work with cleaning solutions and chemicals.

-Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. reliably

-Ability to handle, restrain, and walk dogs of any size, breed, or temperament

-You must have a positive attitude and be open to critique, learning new things, picking up shifts, being flexible, and being a good team player.

-Ability and willingness to work in ANY weather conditions (snow, rain, heat, etc...)

Responsibilities:

-Must monitor, entertain, and maintain large groups of dogs.

-Must be willing to clean up after said dogs and correct their behaviors.

-Take pictures of said dogs.

-Record and notes regarding behaviors, incompatibilities, etc...

-Provide daily care for animals in the kennel, including feeding, watering, and cleaning

-Monitor the health and well-being of animals and report any concerns to the supervisor

-Maintain a clean and sanitary environment in the kennel area, play pens and other areas of the building (inside and outside)

-Perform yard work as needed

-Complete a list of daily tasks consistently and reliably (rotating dogs, taking out trash, washing dog bowls, mopping, vacuuming, scooping dog waste, etc...)

-Finding your own coverage if you are unable to make it to work

-Knowledge of animal care and handling techniques

-Lifting and moving heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and perform physical tasks associated with moving dogs, taking out trash, loading in supplies, and stocking

Pay: $15.50 - $16.50 per hour
