ATTORNEY (Litigation)
Barham & Maucere LLC, a law firm for businesses, investors, and entrepreneurs, is seeking an early to mid-career litigation attorney.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling a busy case load, supporting senior attorneys in their litigation matters, and taking the first-chair role on cases. A willingness to support the firm’s efforts in non-litigation matters is also expected. The firm requires its attorneys to be licensed to practice law in at least one of the following states (GA, IL, KY, MA, MI, MN, OH, TN, WI), and any attorney not licensed in the state of Tennessee on the date of hire will be required to seek admission. Occasional travel may be required but is expected to be infrequent.
Functions and Duties:
· Engage with firm colleagues, existing clients and potential clients in new matter onboarding and pre-litigation claim research and investigation.
· Work alongside firm colleagues in the litigation practice in all aspects of the litigation process including.
· Assist clients and firm colleagues as needed in transactional matters through:
· Attend hearings, mediations, trials, settlement conferences, and other appearances, as necessary.
· Properly utilize firm’s case management system and reporting to ensure all applicable deadlines are met.
· Maintain a clear focus on firm, client, and court timeline expectations by prioritizing and working at a fast pace on a high volume of files.
· Must possess and demonstrate exceptional communication, organizational, advocacy skills, and superior writing skills.
· Must maintain a professional demeanor and appearance.
· Must be able and willing to “pitch in” and help when and where needed as the firm’s caseload demands.
Experience and Education:
· 3 - 5 years’ demonstrated success and experience in litigation practice.
· Previous foreclosure, bankruptcy, or creditor rights experience is a plus.
· Licensed to practice law in at least one of the following states (GA, IL, KY, MA, MI, MN, OH, TN, WI). Admission to practice in federal district courts, bankruptcy courts, or federal courts of appeals is a plus.
· The firm utilizes Clio as its matter management system, and the successful candidate will be expected to utilize the same. All firm personnel utilize Microsoft Office products (including Outlook) and Adobe products for day-to-day functions. All attorneys are expected to become proficient in video conferencing software such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams and to utilize such systems as required by courts or the firm.
Compensation
The compensation for the Staff Attorney position will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and agreed-upon schedule. The firm offers health benefits including employer-paid vision and dental and expects to offer 401k in the future.
