Lead Biologist

What We're Looking For:
Barge Design Solutions is seeking a Lead Biologist to lead challenging work plans with little direction in order to provide quality deliverables through seasoned recommendations. Individuals in this role act as a Subject Matter Specialist (SMS) and are a main contact for state and federal regulatory agencies. Critical to this position are providing sound solutions that comply with regulatory
agency standards and fits the needs of our clients, while improving various stakeholder relationships.
Responsibilities
  • Provides seasoned recommendations for project scope and budget development, as well as, assisting in project
    design.
  • Supports PM acting as Lead Scientist (Subject Matter Specialist (SMS)) on various projects within a specific area
    of responsibility.
  • Designs, interprets, and develops conclusions on complex data.
  • Writes and reviews Scientists reports, documents, drawings, etc. to produce various deliverables.
  • Designs processes on complex projects.
  • Leads client meetings and internal meetings providing seasoned knowledge, managing various stakeholder
    relationships to ensure clear communication and resolution of problems.
  • Lead Scientist for an entire project through communication of findings and solutions to clients.
  • Conducts on-site visits to monitor progress of projects as needed ensuring compliance and alignment of work to
    ensure projects progression as needed and defined. If issues arise, adjusts plans as appropriate and communicates
    changes with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
Supervision
  • Mentors and may review other staff's work for quality purposes.
  • Directs entry level staff and other scientists on challenging issues providing guidance for resolution.
  • Lead Scientist on various conventional projects.
Education & Experience Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited program and professional registration (if available).
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Seasoned ecologist with extensive permitting experience
  • Effective project management to ensure projects are delivered on schedule
  • Familiarity with mitigation banks in Florida area.
