Director of Children and Youth Ministry

The Director of Children and Youth Ministry will, through thoughtful planning and preparation, provide leadership for Bible study, discipleship, praise/worship, missions education/involvement and fellowship events in an engaging environment.

The Director of Children and Youth Ministry is responsible for leading a growing youth ministry, providing Christ-centered, enthusiastic leadership to recruit, support and maintain participation of children and youth. The Director is to encourage a deeper relationship with Christ, spiritual grown and personal worship. This includes group interactions, connection on social media, informal gatherings and attending children and youth activities.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

1. Create a biblical purpose statement for the youth ministry that aligns with Bardstown Baptist Church, in agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 as our doctrinal statement of faith and practice.

2. Be an approachable and outgoing Christian, a member in good standing of the church, and become a member of Bardstown Baptist Church.

3. Plan, coordinate, oversee and evaluate a comprehensive children and youth program inclusive of all children and youth age groups that create opportunities worship, fellowship and apply biblical truths to their lives.

4. Direct the selection of the most suitable education and curriculum materials.

5. Recruit, coordinate, train, empower and lead a team of ministry volunteers.

6. Collect and maintain database of children and youth involvement, to include demographics, parent/guardian contact information, special instruction for children and youth if needed and involvement permission documents.

7. Collaborate with the church staff and ministry support teams to coordinate and schedule events, activities, projects and programs.

8. Encourage and shepherd the children and youth to participate in appropriate mission projects and plan activities that provide outreach and mission opportunities.

9. Intentionally build relationships with the participants and their parents/guardians through in person meetings, phone, social media, bulletins, email and website(s).

10. Manage the ministry budget as approved and submit required reports, estimates and requests according to relevant church policies by specified deadlines. Plan and implement

fundraisers when necessary.

11. Select and purchase all needed equipment and supplies according to the designated budget.

12. Oversee the use and maintenance of the equipment and supplies utilized by children and youth programs.

13. Meet with Children and Youth Ministry teams at least quarterly.

14. Identify community needs that will help Bardstown Baptist Church outreach.

15. Build relationships with the church membership and staff and be an active member of the church ministry teams.

16. Communicate opportunities for involvement through pulpit announcements, electronic media, Sunday bulletins, etc.

17. Work with the Security, Buildings/Grounds sub-committees and staff to maintain an environment that is secure and clean.

18. Ensure proper completion of background checks for all children and youth ministry volunteers prior to their participation.

19. Attend staff meetings with the Pastor; attend Deacons, Administrative Council, Quarterly Business meetings and other committee meetings as requested.

20. Support Pastor in overall vision and leadership of church teaching.

21. Other duties as assigned by Pastor.

Qualifications:

This position requires a Wednesday evening and Sunday morning schedule and participation. Experience working with children and youth plus serving on a church staff is preferred. Strong interpersonal skills with children, youth and adults; must be an exceptional listener and communicator; must profess faith in Jesus Christ and exhibit a commitment to sharing Christ with others. Have a calling from God along with the gifts and talents necessary to facilitate this ministry.

The Director of Children and Youth Ministry is a part-time, salaried position. When necessary, the Director will be expected to invest additional time beyond 25 hours per week her/his duties (e.g., staff meeting attendance, office hours, time spent ministering to those participating in the children and youth ministry)

An annual performance evaluation will be conducted by the Pastor and/or his designee(s).

Bardstown Baptist Church reserves the right to change or reassign job duties or combine positions at any time deemed appropriate. The church will notify the Director prior to any changes being implemented.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $25,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
