Description

The QA Laboratory Technicianis responsible for testing ingredients, packaging materials, in-process and finished goods; performing actions across the production process to prevent errors; analyzing quality control data; maintaining the QA laboratory workspace and equipment; conducting product inspections; and keeping records. This position is also expected to ensure the safety, quality and legality of the food products manufactured at the facility.

1. Responsibilities: 

• Ingredient and packaging material sampling and receiving analyses.
• In-process and finished goods sampling and physicochemical analyses.
• Production process systematic supervision and records verification.
• Ingredient, packaging material and finished product retention sampling.
• Finished product scoring.
• Support to Quality Control Lead and Operators.
• Assistance in the investigation of customer complaints and nonconformities in the production process, as well as carry out corrective and preventive actions.
• Critical Control Point (CCP) verification.
• Plant startup and changeover inspection and release.
• Nonconforming product program.
• QA Laboratory workspace and equipment maintenance, organizing, and cleaning – 5S program.
• Verification and calibration of the QA equipment.
• Control of laboratory supplies and inventory (equipment, materials, chemicals, waste, etc.).
• Management of documents and records in the QA laboratory.
• Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) inspections.
• Support the 5S program in the manufacturing facility, keeping working areas, utensils, and equipment clean and organized.
• Compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Quality & Food Safety guidelines.
• Compliance with company safety rules and procedures including reports to the management team of any unsafe conditions.
• Support to all quality shifts, as needed.
• Any other duties assigned by the management.

Qualifications

1. Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent courses and work experience in Food Science.
• Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office applications and Windows environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating professionally and effectively with others as well as being able to receive feedback from others.
• Problem solving skills.
• Time management and teamwork skills.
• High level of integrity.
• Good knowledge in procedure implementation.
• Analytical thinking, meticulousness, and detail-oriented skills.
• Planning and organizing skills.
• Able to work on the weekends, as needed.
• Bilingual (English and Spanish), preferably.
