POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the preschool director and in accordance with The Texas Department of
Family and Protective Services, goals and standards established by the Barbara Bauer Briggs
Family YMCA, the Preschool Teacher is responsible for implementing the curriculum and provide a nurturing, well-supervised and safe environment for preschool children. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS :
1. At least 18 years of age.
2. High school diploma or equivalent.
3. Must be able to pass an FBI fingerprint and background check.
4. Becoming CPR and first aid certified is a requirement for all staff.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time.
2. Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
3. Must be able to lift and/or assist children up to 50 pounds in weight.
4. Must be able to lift and carry food and supplies weighing up to 20 pounds.
5. Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
6. Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
7. Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
8. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
