Job Summary: This position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing physical moves and changes, involving personnel, furniture, equipment, building maintenance and safety, vendor services, and monitoring customer satisfaction. In addition, plans, implements and oversees the development and compliance of Environment of Care management programs so as to provide a safe, functional and effective environment for patients, staff and visitors. Oversees the required Joint Commission Environment of Care surveys in ambulatory care and/or hospital work areas. Serve as a resource or liaison for healthcare departments on any clinical questions that may impact employee safety.
Responsibilities:
Direct consistent application, effective processes and accountability for the Environment of Care management programs (Fire Safety, Utility Systems, Medical Equipment, safety, Security and Hazardous Materials).
Develop site-specific safety plans for Karmanos facilities.
Develop and conduct mandated Environment of Care audits in ambulatory and hospital facilities.
Coordinate support of maintenance and repair requests with DMC Facilities Services and/or external vendors, resolving or escalating service issues when appropriate.
Provide written reports of the conducted audits. Develop and provide requested training on specific safety related issues, such as security or use of safety devices.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred and three years of experience in facilities and environment of care in a healthcare setting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three years of coordinator experience in both facilities and environment of care is desired.
Proven analytical and organization skills.
Demonstrated project management ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in dynamic environment.
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel.
