Baptist Memorial Health is Hiring a Trainer-Coding Quality Assurance Near Memphis, TN
Summary Responsible for the training of coders in BMHCC's Centralized Hospital Coding Services and assists with the execution of performance improvement plans to promote enhanced quality and efficiency of coding services. This position is under the general direction of the Director, BMHCC Centralized Hospital Coding Services. Performs other duties as assigned. Responsibilities
Trains new coding employees or cross-trains on Baptist coding references, procedures, etc.
Evaluates and monitors coding/abstracting functions of new coders, cross trainees, or coders eligible for promotion to higher coding complexity status.
Assists with action plan and follow prospective and/or retrospective audits for identified coding issues.
Provides ongoing coding expertise in the coding of diagnoses and procedures.
Attends ICD-10 educational classes, quarterly coding teleconferences, and other Quality Coding Services meetings as needed; participates in ongoing educational activities.
Contributes to a positive work climate and overall team effort of the department.
Completes assigned goals.
Requirements, Preferences and Experience Education Preferred: Associate Degree or equivalent combination of experience. Minimum: Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. Thorough working knowledge of ICD coding, CPT coding, and DRG methodology. Experience Minimum: Skill and proficiency in coding inpatient and outpatient (ancillary, emergency department, outpatient surgery, etc.) records utilizing ICD and CPT through three years experience in an acute care facility.
