Job Summary:
The staff occupational therapist shall evaluate and treat patients, including developing the treatment plan and setting goals for patients. Patient and family education is included in the treatment plan and goals. The OT will complete all documentation as outlined in policies and procedures, to insure compliance with all insurance and regulatory requirements. The therapist will assist with the education of affiliating students, OT staff, hospital staff, and the community at large. The therapist will participate in departmental program development as requested, and participate in quality program implementation. The therapist will intervene appropriately to meet the needs of patients with impaired mentation, vision, hearing or mobility.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job. He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.
1. Evaluates patient & develops outcome oriented plan of care
2. Provides treatment based on plan of care, revises as necessary
3. Provides patient and family teaching
4. Provides discharge planning including equipment needs, home programs, community resources
5. Documents all aspects of care including evaluation, progress, teaching, discharge, charges, including computerized documentation, coding, meeting regulatory and insurance guidelines
6 Meets department productivity guidelines and effectively manages downtime
7. Participates in team meetings and rounds, including Family Conferences and individual patient meetings as needed
8. Utilizes and maintains department equipment in safe and proper manner
9. Assists the student supervisor in the supervision of affiliating occupational therapy students
10. Participates in department and hospital quality init
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:
A. Current active or current temporary Kentucky Occupational Therapy License
B. NBCOT Certification - strongly preferred
C. BLS Certification
