Baptist Health Floyd, Observation Unit
Full-Time, Nights
$$ Up to $25,000 Sign On Bonus
Job Duties:
The Charge Nurse is responsible for acting as a resource nurse for the department. This is an entry-level leadership position responsible for the coordination of care on designated shifts. The Charge RN will provide leadership to the staff members of the unit in the area of patient care. This Charge Nurse will work alongside the team and provide direct patient care while determining needed staffing fluctuations during shifts, responding to departmental concerns, address immediate staff issues and coordinate patient flow.
About the Unit:
The Observation Unit is a 32-bed unit affiliated with the Emergency Department and observes patients who are expected to be in the hospital less than 24 hours. Nurses in this unit care for a variety of patients including chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, heart catheterizations, laparoscopic cholecystectomies, UTIs, and DVTs. The unit is staffed with a provider between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM each day of the week to provide support and high-level care.

Qualifications:
Current Indiana or compact state RN license.
Associate or Bachelors Degree in Nursing.
BLS for Healthcare Provider required.
ACLS required within 12 months of hire.
One year of nursing experience required.
One year of nursing experience in area of specialty preferred.
Responsible for attending charge nurse professional development opportunities provided.
Maintain port competency, per policy, to include accessing and de-accessing.
