Apply the appropriate diagnostic and procedural codes (ICD, CPT and modifiers) to inpatient or outpatient accounts for data retrieval, analysis and claims processing. Queries physicians via the Clinical Coders or Case Managers when needed to improve and clarify documentation on inpatient records. Description
  • High School graduate or equivalent required.
  • Certified Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) or Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) required.
  • RHIA or RHIT certification preferred.
  • Three plus (3) years coding in acute care setting.
  • Skill in the use of computers.
  • Ability to effectively manage time and schedules.
  • Ability to monitor and or maintain control standards.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
