Job Description:

The Nursing Assistant II (Emergency Department Technician) functions within the multidisciplinary team that cares for the ED patient under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse. Performs a wide range of unit coordination duties including but not limited to:

• test requisition, order entry, charge entry, reconciliation of ED log, and coordination of services from other departments for the ED patient at the request of ED physician or RN.

• Records and documents data in proper format.

• Responsible for accurate and timely specimen collection, bedside 12 lead ECGs and bedside point of care testing.

• Coordinates transport of patients to and from diagnostic testing, admission and discharge.

Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and Licensures Required:

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification (SRNA, CNA) required or letter from school verifying the completion of first year clinicals.

• BLS/ACLS

• Previous laboratory or customer service experience preferred.

• Data entry and computer experience and/or phlebotomy, point of care testing experience preferred.
