Baptist Health Deaconess Madisonville is Hiring a SPD Tech Near Madisonville, KY
Performs work in accordance with established hospital standards, department/unit structure, processes and outcome standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements and the philosophy, goals and objectives of the hospital, Peri-operative department and education department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
| 1. | Provides complete and effective verbal or written communication with appropriate information to staff or coordinator / manager as applicable. Responds appropriately to customer requests using outstanding customer service skills. Maintains communication with Surgery (and other departments) concerning problems as they arise. Legibly and accurately records, completes requests, complies with requests, distributes item(s), and or forwards calls. |
| 2. | Maintains a working knowledge of all-mechanical equipment and instruments. Maintains assigned department area insuring neatness, correct labeling, cleanliness, no item outdates |
| 3. | Performs professional responsibilities. Attends in-services and unit meetings. Functions as a mentor for new employees. Adheres to unit dress code. |
| 4. | Coordinates and prioritizes supply, instrument and equipment requests by phone with other hospital departments. Makes decisions in crisis situations based on assessment and prompt action / intervention. Restocks par level, exchange carts, and emergency carts correctly/completely. Accurately documents all items distributed. |
| 5. | Assesses availability of and makes recommendations to manager for instruments / supplies needed in SPD. |
| 6. | Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job related hazards, and national patient safety goals. |
| 7. | Ensures positive customer relations interactions

| 1. | Monitors and reports on performance improvement. Accurately maintains legal records for all sterilizer loads, sterilized items and biological records. |
| 2. | Prep/pack of instruments / trays. Prepares Surgery & Labor & Delivery case carts. Monitors all instrument loss – replace, report and record lost instruments. |
| 3. | Uses EPIC, Intranet and SPM system resources accurately and without difficulty. Uses material resources conservatively. Maintain integrity of instrument container systems Assists in department physical inventory control |
Minimum Education, Experience, Training, and Licensures Required:
High School diploma or GED required. IAHCSMM certification (CRCST) is required within two years of employment.
EXPERIENCE: Sterile processing and Distribution experience preferred.
Working Conditions:
- Requires standing over 75% of the time.
- Requires sitting less than 35% of the time.
- Requires walking more than 35% but less than 75% of the time
- Requires carrying and lifting objects weighing up to 25 lbs. Less than 35% of the time.
- Requires pushing and pulling objects (i.e. case carts) weighing up to150 lbs or more than 35% of the time.
- Requires bending and twisting at the waist less than 35% of the time.
- Requires squatting and kneeling less than 35% of the time.
- Requires reaching high and low less than 35% of the time.
- Requires fingering, grasping and feeling objects more than 35% but less than 75% of the time.
- Requires talking, hearing, and seeing more than 75% of the time.
- Requires making repetitive motions less than 35% of the time.
