About the Team

ACCEL Schools is seeking a highly-qualified Part-Time Wellness Coordinator at Banning Lewis Preparatory Academy in Colorado Springs, CO dedicated to providing a superior education for all students for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. We are seeking individuals who are excited to create a rigorous and nurturing classroom environment that prioritizes student learning and social-emotional development.

At Banning Lewis Ranch, we serve students in Grades K-5. Highlights include our Capturing Kid's Hearts Program, Celebration of Learning Nights, 5th Grade Capstone Field Trip to Washington DC, and a well-rounded student schedule that includes Spanish, Art, PE, Music & Technology.

At Banning Lewis Prep, we serve students in Grades 6-12. We carefully transition students into Middle School with purposeful social activities and programs as LEAD our leadership development program, sports through the Central Colorado Athletic League, and numerous clubs and electives. In High School, we offer traditions such as Homecoming, Prom, and Student Senate. We focus on Concurrent Enrollment opportunities, Service Learning Projects, Senior Capstone Projects, and college and career readiness (such as online courses, career & technical business programs, foreign exchange program opportunities and much more. At the High School level, our athletes compete in the Tri-Peaks League and have many additional extracurricular opportunities such as Mock Trial, Jazz & Concert Band, National Honor Society, and more.

The Part-Time Wellness Coordinator at Banning Lewis Academy is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive wellness programs and initiatives for staff. The coordinator acts as a community liaison, connecting staff to local wellness offerings, and manages events and activities designed to foster a healthier workplace culture. This role involves collaboration with HR, external vendors, and other school staff to ensure the success of wellness initiatives.

About the Opportunity:

The Part-Time Wellness Coordinator at Banning Lewis Academy is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive wellness programs and initiatives for staff. The coordinator acts as a community liaison, connecting staff to local wellness offerings, and manages events and activities designed to foster a healthier workplace culture. This role involves collaboration with HR, external vendors, and other school staff to ensure the success of wellness initiatives.

Responsibilities include to-

1. Community Liaison:

  • Establish and maintain relationships with local wellness providers (yoga, fitness, cooking classes, mindfulness, community gardening, etc.) to offer staff diverse wellness options.
  • Serve as a direct liaison to connect staff with community resources and organize relevant wellness events and activities.

2. Event Coordinator:

  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee ongoing wellness events at the school, either self-led or facilitated by appropriate staff or external instructors.
  • Organize special events such as fitness challenges, 5k Fun Runs, health screenings, lunch and learn seminars, flu-shots, fitness classes, and more.

3. Digital Presence:

  • Create and maintain an online dashboard that provides staff with a comprehensive overview of wellness offerings and resources.
  • Update the dashboard regularly to reflect new events, classes, and activities.

4. HR Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the HR department to develop benefits information sessions for staff, focusing on wellness-related topics such as FSA, HSA, and other health benefits.
  • Collaborate with HR and external vendors to leverage the medical plan for wellness initiatives and ensure staff are well-equipped to take advantage of available benefits.

5. Budget Management:

  • Manage the wellness program budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and compliance with school policies.
  • Report on budget utilization and the effectiveness of wellness programs.

6. Program Development and Evaluation:

  • Develop, coordinate, manage, and maintain total wellbeing programming to reduce health risks, lower medical costs, and encourage healthy lifestyles.
  • Gather and analyze data to measure the success of wellness programs and initiatives.
  • Compile comprehensive monthly objectives reports on program participation, outcomes, and areas for improvement.

This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule. Some events may require work outside typical school hours. The role involves regular interaction with school staff and external vendors.

About You:

  • Background in wellness, health education, fitness, or related field.
  • Experience in program coordination or event planning.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, HR, and external vendors.
  • Proficiency in digital tools for creating and managing online dashboards.
  • Ability to manage budgets and report on program effectiveness.
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and able to work independently.
  • Experience working with at-risk populations preferred.
  • Track record of building trust and positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Ability to maintain composure and job performance under changing or stressful conditions
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
  • Ability to pass federal, state, and local background checks
