With over 25 years of experience and a team of highly qualified technicians, Banner Environmental Services, Inc. provides environmental services for residential, municipal, commercial, and institutional projects in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, covering the Greater Boston area including Cape Cod and the Islands.

We are currently seeking a Controller to join our team. This is a salaried position reporting to the CFO.

Job Responsibilities -

Finance and Accounting Leadership

  • Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and actual expenditures.
  • Coordinate all audit and financial statement reporting activity.
  • Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of company financial status.
  • Assist Banner Environmental leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
  • Oversee all AIA Billing, worker’s compensation audits, and be familiar with multi-state financials/tax filings.

Team Leadership

  • Leverage strengths of the current accounting team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a BA; CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • Must possess construction accounting knowledge.
  • Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivable, general ledger, payroll.
  • Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software.
  • Commitment to mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team; the foresight and ability to delegate accordingly.
  • Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus. simple reporting
  • Attention to deadlines and proactively manage workflow.
  • Excellent response time to all mediums of communication to both internal staff and external vendors/advisors.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, colleagues, and other outside partners/clients.
  • Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all staff levels.'
