Summary of Position:

The Heavy Equipment Maintenance Planner at Banks Construction Company holds a pivotal role in orchestrating the upkeep and efficiency of the company's extensive heavy equipment fleet. This position involves meticulous planning of maintenance activities, prioritizing tasks, allocating resources, and maintaining an inventory of essential parts and tools. It requires a keen eye for preventive maintenance, thorough record-keeping, effective communication with maintenance personnel and equipment operators, and data-driven decision-making. The role also encompasses ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations, responding to emergency repairs, and contributing to budget management. By optimizing maintenance schedules and processes, the Heavy Equipment Maintenance Planner plays a fundamental part in minimizing equipment downtime, enhancing performance, and supporting the overall success of Banks Construction Company. 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive maintenance schedule for all heavy equipment, including construction machinery, vehicles, and associated tools.
  • Ensure that preventive and routine maintenance tasks are scheduled at appropriate intervals, considering usage and manufacturer recommendations.
  • Collaborate with equipment operators to schedule maintenance during non-peak operational hours to minimize disruption.
  • Evaluate the urgency and importance of maintenance tasks and prioritize them accordingly.
  • Allocate resources effectively to address critical maintenance needs promptly.
  • Coordinate with the maintenance team to assign technicians and mechanics to specific maintenance tasks.
  • Optimize the allocation of spare parts, tools, and equipment needed for maintenance activities.
  • Ensure that all heavy equipment undergoes routine preventive maintenance, including inspections, lubrication, and replacement of wear parts.
  • Monitor and track equipment usage to schedule maintenance based on hours of operation.
  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, including repair reports, maintenance logs, and equipment service history.
  • Create a database of maintenance history to inform future scheduling decisions.
  • Coordinate with equipment operators and maintenance personnel to ensure smooth workflow and address any concerns or issues.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with the Maintenance Manager and other relevant departments.
  • Analyze equipment performance data to identify patterns and trends that can inform future maintenance scheduling decisions.
  • Make data-driven recommendations for optimizing maintenance schedules and reducing equipment downtime.
  • Be prepared to adjust the maintenance schedule to accommodate emergency repairs and breakdowns.
  • Coordinate rapid responses to equipment failures to minimize downtime.
  • Assist in budget planning by providing input on maintenance needs and resource allocation.
  • Monitor and report on maintenance expenses to ensure they align with the allocated budget.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to enhance maintenance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve equipment performance.
  • Implement process improvements and efficiencies to optimize maintenance operations.
