Bank Street College of Education is Hiring an Adjunct Instructor - EDUC 874 Summer 2 Near New York, NY

Adjunct instructor for EDUC 874: Clinical Practicum/Advisement for Reading & Literacy

Bank Street College Graduate School of Education is looking for an adjunct instructor for the following course to be taught on campus, summer 2024.

EDUC 874: Clinical Practicum/Advisement for Reading & Literacy, 3 credits

This course is designed for graduate students in the Reading & Literacy programs who are working teachers and, therefore, are in one classroom placement for the entire school year. To fulfill New York State requirements, the clinical teaching practicum offers participants the opportunity to gain experience teaching a range of children, many of whom struggle to read and write, and who are of varied ages and backgrounds. Participants work as intervention teachers in a clinical setting with children. The practicum instructor will visit the practicum site to observe and discuss each student’s clinical practice. Graduate students participate in a small group seminar that will include the exchange and analysis of ongoing professional experiences and provide a forum for integrating theory and practice.

Days/Times/Dates

The instructor will provide supervision of graduate students in their clinical school-based placement, M-TH 8:30 AM – 12:30 PM, during the Summer 2 term, June 24-July 29, 2024

In addition, the instructor will facilitate a course associated with the field experiences that meets twice weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in literacy or related field required.
  • 5 or more years of experience teaching and clinical practice working with children who struggle to read and write.
  • Experience providing coaching or mentoring to teachers on their literacy practices required.
  • Experience teaching at the graduate level, preferred.
  • COVID-19 vaccination is required.

Compensation:

  • $4470
