Job Description: Applicant should have a good working knowledge of OSHA Trench Safety Standards and how to effectively operate various sizes of excavators within that framework of safety. Applicant needs to be familiar with current construction methods for installing gravity sanitary sewers and manholes in both urban and rural areas. The ability to dig around existing utilities without damaging lines is required. A working knowledge of water main installation methods and residential water service repairs/replacements is very helpful. Applicant needs to be able to be accomplish basic equipment maintenance such as fueling and greasing of heavy equipment, and be aware of the warning signs of failure in various pieces of heavy equipment. Applicant should be able to attend training sessions and pass basic knowledge tests related to construction.
Other Requirements: A current driver’s license in good standing is required to operate any company vehicle on the road or job site. Applicant must be willing to work out of town for the work week and perform physical labor related to construction. Good communication skills are needed, along with a willingness to work as a team with other crew members.
