Ballard Power Systems Inc. is Hiring a Product Solutions / Continuation Engineering Project Manager Near Vancouver, WA

A Product Solutions / Continuation Engineering Project Manager is a high-energy and organized individual who demonstrates the ability to negotiate with an awareness of company priorities. The individual should have strong technical and interpersonal skills that will be showcased through their leadership via example. The successful candidate will manage Product Solutions and Continuation Engineering projects so they are delivered on budget and on time.
Success requires the ability to provide:
  • Clear work breakdown structures and deliverables to the team 
  • Plans and tracks against baseline schedules, budgets, and resources
  • Timely communication of scope changes and impacts
  • Risk analysis and mitigation strategies 
  • Project summaries and high-level status reports
  • Effective management of key issues directly with customers
Guidance to help the team prioritize activities and deliver on time. Work closely with the commercial, product development and customer care teams to stay on top of the program status and field issues.
Specific responsibilities include:
  • Create work breakdown structures with clear deliverables for each task 
  • Collaborate with the core team to define schedules, budgets and resources that then become baselines
  • Track the actual progress vs baseline to identify variances on a weekly basis
  • Identify mitigation strategies to get back on track
  • Submit change requests if the project is unable to resolve variances 
  • Communicate issues within a 2-week window using the T&PD issues list
  • Interface with external suppliers, participate in meetings and clearly communicate program needs to customers and suppliers
  • Organize work on as needed basis and provide guidance to the team 
  • Work with the Technical lead to develop baseline plans and mitigation plans 
  • Prepare clear, concise program status reports with appropriate detail to broad stakeholder groups including executive management, extended project team, functional managers, commercial team and customers
  • Use critical thinking to make effective decisions to move the project team forward with consideration of risk assessment and trade-off analyses
  • Interface directly with customers and other stakeholders directly
  • Manage team in investigating, developing and implementing corrective actions for issues affecting system reliability and durability
Requirements:
  • Ideal candidate will have a well-rounded background, practical application of project management and active PMP and/or Agile Scrum certification
  • Experience in managing multi-discipline projects 
  • Experience in fuel cell system or automotive hardware development life cycle 
  • Experience in fuel cell systems or automotive controls systems and software development life cycle 
  • Ability to interface and work cooperatively across the organization 
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to shift priorities as needed
  • Basic understanding of FRACAS and 8D problem-solving process
The typical hiring range for this position is CAD$93,000 - CAD$117,000 per annum. Ballard considers many factors in determining total compensation, including the successful Candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, experience, position location, and internal equity. As part of our total rewards offering, permanent employees in this position may be eligible for our competitive annual short-term and long-term bonus program, subject to program eligibility requirements.
