We have an exciting opportunity for the Administrator, Health Services, to join our team.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Administrator, Health Services is primarily responsible for the skilled nursing continuum of care. This position directs the day-to-day operations of the Balfour skilled nursing facility (SNF) in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. Through strong leadership, organization, and management skills. This position provides strategic direction in key business areas, including financial operations, human resources, business development, facility management, and resident satisfaction. The Administrator, Health Services ensures Balfour standards are met, that each resident receives high-quality care, and that the financial goals of the organization are achieved.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans and prioritizes work to meet commitments aligned with Balfour skilled nursing goals.
  • Ensures that policies and procedures are developed, implemented, monitored and evaluated.
  • Maintains current knowledge of the laws, regulations, and CMS standards governing accreditation and licensing. Identify areas of potential legal liability, and implement appropriate interventions to minimize or eliminate exposure.
  • Managing labor and expenses within budget, in partnership with ED.
  • Coordination of care across the continuum.
  • Oversees federal and state surveys and ensures that regulatory standards are met.
  • Identifies, monitors, and ensures the quality indicators and QAPI programs are utilized to maximize effectiveness in resident care and quality of life.
  • Integrates resident rights and resident individuality in all aspects of resident care.
  • Engages in prevention of abuse, neglect and mistreatment.
  • Understands basic principles and concepts of nursing, infection control, rehabilitation, nutritional services, confidentiality, safeguarding personal health information, admissions, transfers, bed holds and discharge requirements and regulations.
  • Ensures that resident and family concerns are understood and that appropriate actions are taken toward resolution.
  • Promotes effective communication between management and staff, including conducting effective meetings.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors employee programs related to recruitment, staff development, evaluation, and retention, including initiating corrective action for personnel falling below established AHC standards.
  • Develops and manages the facility annual operating and capital budgets and effectively use fiscal resources.
  • Understands key financial metrics and procedures in areas including reimbursements, payroll, billing, accounts receivable, collection management, and accounts payable.
  • Generates and collects revenue to ensure financial viability of the facility.
  • Maintains systems for improving the facility, grounds, and equipment to ensure the facility meets the Balfour standard.
  • Fosters and maintains relationships between the facility and other community resources.
  • Knows market details and develops and implements comprehensive marketing and public relations strategies.
  • Maintains excellent working relationships with medical professionals and other health related facilities and organizations.
  • Develops leadership skills of the management team and key staff and identify areas to help each team member improve.
  • Courageously address difficult issues while providing support and direct/actionable feedback.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, & SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Valid and current NHA license.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills, with the ability to bring individuals together and function as a positive and effective mentor.
  • Minimum 8 to 10 years’ experience of leadership in a health care community/facility.
  • Strong management or leadership background in senior living, hospitality, or other customer service-related field. Senior living experience preferred, especially with a demanding, discerning, and affluent customer base.
  • Experience in training clinical staff on EHRs to include ALIS or similar systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and work proactively in the creation and management of operational solutions resulting in organizational success.
  • High professional and ethical standards.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills, with the ability to bring individuals together and function as a positive and effective mentor.
  • Be able to solve problems and think creatively.
  • Possess high emotional intelligence and demonstrate the ability to be empathetic in various situations dealing with staff, residents, and residents’ family members.
  • Be willing to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends, when necessary.
  • Communicate openly, honestly, and respectfully with others.
  • Lead by example with diplomacy, empathy, consistency, humility, and confidence; and possess superior customer service skills and professionalism.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Travel is minimal.
  • Must be available to work weekends and holidays as needed.
  • May be exposed to unpleasant odors, contagious diseases and blood borne pathogens.
  • Balfour is a pet-friendly community; you may be exposed to animal hair and dander.
