Baldwin & Shell is Hiring a Payroll Specialist Near Little Rock, AR

Baldwin & Shell Construction Company is searching for a Payroll Specialist who will thrive in our Corporate team.

The Payroll Specialist plays a critical role for the Company. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for assuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time.

This position reports directly to the Controller and works closely with the Accounting Manager on payroll and related HR functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer payroll functions subject to review by Accounting Manager and/or Controller.
  • Review new hire onboarding information in HRIS.
  • Preliminarily set up new employees and edit existing employees as needed in ERP.
    • Employee information
    • Employee deductions
      • Federal tax
      • State tax
      • Child support, garnishments, etc.
      • Benefits
      • 401k
  • Utilize Viewpoint to open, process, and post payroll on a weekly basis.
    • Enter time sheets in payroll system.
    • Save time sheets to record retention software.
    • Preliminarily review weekly payroll.
  • Prepare federal and state payroll tax forms and reconciliations. (Form 941, Form 940, state unemployment, Form W-2s, etc.)
  • Remit weekly reports and withholdings to appropriate entities. (child support, garnishments, 401k third party administrator, etc.)
  • Print certified payroll for jobs and distribute accordingly.
  • Calculate safety awards for field employees.
  • Assist with miscellaneous projects related to accounting and/or human resources.
  • Communicate regularly with all Company employees regarding payroll questions and/or issues.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of security for confidential information.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree and at least four years of payroll experience or High school diploma, or equivalent, and at least eight years of payroll experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills.
  • Must be self-driven, motivated and possess the ability to work effectively and independently.
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Must possess strong attention to detail and follow through.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient in Viewpoint, Docuware and various web-based software.
