Audiovisual Engineer – Boston or New York

Bala is hiring an experienced Audiovisual System Engineer to work onsite in our Boston, MA or New York City, NY Offices. This engineer partners with our existing enterprise technology team to focus on projects both in the Boston and New York areas and out of state. This position will take accountability and ownership of audiovisual systems designs and report to project management group members. You will act as a subject matter expert and support the projects of other design leaders. The candidate will have existing project experience and relationships in the Boston or New York area and be able to represent themselves and Bala in technology thought leadership and advance our audiovisual design and engineering capabilities. We are specifically interested in candidates with prior broadcast and collaboration systems design experience. We are also interested in candidates with broadcast lighting, event management, digital content design/management or space management and IoT experience.

Responsibilities include: 

• Provide audiovisual design services on technology projects within the office and assist on multi-discipline (Structured Cabling, Security, Building Systems, AV) projects. 
• Assist in the creation of project deliverables including: 
  1. Schematic design reports 
  2. Revit and AutoCAD based drawing packages 
  3. Specifications and equipment lists 
  4. Field reports and punch lists 
• Lead in the creation of project deliverables including: 

• Audiovisual equipment lists and budgets 
• Audiovisual system diagrams 
• Mounting details, rack and control room layouts 
• Provide value across the Bala offices as a technical resource.
• Interact with the technology group and office leaders on office and strategic issues 
• Perform high level Quality Control on projects.
• Support our existing Boston or New York technology presence by participating in marketing and business development meetings.

Desired skills and experience: 

• Minimum of five years of experience in audiovisual systems design. 
• Avixa Certified Technology Specialist Design (CTS-D) 
• Dante Certification Level 3 
• NDI and Performance Media Networking 
• Microsoft Teams Admin Center (TAC) experience 
• Cisco WebEx, Control Hub & RoomOS experience 
• Additional design experience on any of the following: Structured Cabling, Access Control/Video Surveillance, Audiovisual, IoT/Building Systems Integration, Enterprise Technology Strategy, Distributed Antenna/Emergency Radio Systems, Wi-Fi/Network Design, Datacenter Design 
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering, design or management discipline or history of continuing education and certification on technology design for the built environment. 
• Prior experience as a professional in engineering consulting across a variety of verticals 
• History of thought leadership with formal writing, presentations and/or participation in standards bodies (or Expressed desire and ability to start working on thought leadership)
