TITLE: Sterile Equipment Tech Lead 

LOCATION: Durango, CO

STATUS: Full-Time – Contract

SCHEDULE: 3-11pm x 5 per weeks

PAY:  $20.50 - $33.00 Per Hour DOQ

This is the pay range that BAHAMA Consulting reasonably expects to pay someone for this position.

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt (Overtime paid at 1.5X regular rate of pay)

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Performs routine tasks in decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments, adhering to AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards. 
• Manages sterilization operations, maintains records, and ensures certification compliance. 
• Communicates with staff, assigns daily tasks, and assumes responsibilities in supervisor/manager absence. 
• Provides training, monitors competency, and participates in hospital-wide projects. 
• Directs task assignments, instructs staff, and adjusts workflow to meet production needs. 
• Offers input on staffing levels, supports hospital service requirements, and oversees specialized technical tasks. 
• Assists in problem resolution, policy implementation, and in-service/orientation programs. 
• Collaborates on instrument availability, optimizes resource use, and conducts emergency cart checks. 
• Follows mandatory reporting for incidents, maintains high-quality patient care, and performs cleaning, decontamination, inspection, and sterilization using proper techniques. 
• Operates sterilizers, conducts equipment checks, and validates proper functioning. 
• Performs biological monitoring, adheres to manufacturer guidelines, and maintains competency in high-level disinfection practices. 
• Operates washer/decontaminator, follows infection control policies, and facilitates cleaning and processing of medical equipment. 
• Ensures compliance with FDA guidelines for single-use devices. 
• Labels and stores sterilized items appropriately, maintains records, and works with SPD Manager, Supervisor, and OR Coordinators for instrument repairs and staffing needs. 
• Utilizes computerized tracking systems, reports equipment issues, and participates in Quality Improvement plans. 
• Orders instruments, reports monthly sterilization data, and collaborates with vendors for set completeness and maintenance. 
• Addresses customer service issues, utilizes hospital computer programs for tracking, and maintains sterilization logs for quality control and recall purposes.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• 2 years of sterile equipment processing, required
• High School Diploma or GED, required
• CRCST, required
• Infection Control certification
