Baesman Group is Hiring a SQL Database Administrator Near Columbus, OH

The Database Administrator provides the principal capability within the organization to store, organize, and maintain the security of customer and production data.

The Database Administrator is responsible for the design, architecture, implementation, performance, security, and maintenance of all data storage for the organization and our clients. The role will interact regularly with the Lead Application Developer, internal client account managers, SAS analytics team members, and production facility managers.

The Database Administrator also provides the primary report-writing capability within the organization for production management reporting and data extraction activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Lead the installation, configuration, design, and testing of new client and production-focused databases supporting all data-related activities. Identifies user requirements, sets up database structures, tests, and coordinates modifications to these systems.
2. Create and maintain data loads from external clients via SSIS and manipulate data via a strong knowledge of ETL and SQL stored procedures.

3. Implement database performance monitoring, mapping of conceptual designs, refining logical designs, data modeling, maintaining data standards and protection (encryption), writing database documentation (standards, procedures, definitions), defining access control and permissions, managing backup and recovery paths, and participating in capacity planning.

4. Perform "ad hoc" data retrieval, assembly, and reporting functions for delivery to internal and external teams. Create ad-hoc data views to support the internal SAS Analytics team.

5. Provide ongoing maintenance of all organizational production and administrative data sources to ensure data integrity and database security. Troubleshoots database errors, indexing, speed, or other concerns. Coordinates with the VP, Technology, and Lead Developer to ensure all data storage and retrieval capabilities are properly supported and maintained within our IT infrastructure.

6. Produce and maintain database documentation (e.g. data dictionary, Entity Relationship Diagrams) as required for proper system maintenance and system enhancements.

7. Leads the discovery, mock-up, creation, testing, scheduling, and ongoing revision of SQL/SSRS-based business reports.

8. Maintain multiple SQL server instances including versions, compatibility, upgrades, working with external vendors to ensure functionality, etc.

9. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field; or five to seven years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

MCSE: Data Platform Certification is desired, but not required.

Other Skills and Abilities:

· Comprehensive knowledge of database administration.

· Comprehensive knowledge of structured query language (SQL), SSIS, SSRS, ETL, and report writing.

· Comfort with both on-prem and cloud-based SQL deployments.

· Comprehensive knowledge of data analysis, modeling, and database design techniques.

· Comprehensive knowledge of SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS).

· Skill in performing complex and specialized database functions.

· Skill in performing indexes and stored procedure tuning; handling security, backups, and recovery.

· Skill in evaluating changes in the production environment and anticipating resources needed to meet those changes.

· Strong experience with reporting tools (SQL, SSRS Reporting Services, and Crystal Reports).

· Experience with high availability, fault tolerance, and disaster recovery.

· Comprehensive experience using SQL Server Management Studio and related SQL tools (RedGate, etc.).
