BAE Systems is Hiring a CEMA/ISS Senior Electro-Optical Systems Engineer Near Manchester, NH

Job Description
Because of the need for consistent, in-person collaboration and/or the requirement to perform all work onsite due to the nature of this particular role, it will be performed full-time on site. This means work will be conducted on location at a BAE Systems facility 100% of the time. To allow employees to balance their work and personal lives, we offer flexible “9/80” work schedules, where employees work nine-hour days with every other Friday off within a two-week pay period.
See what you’re missing. Our employees work on the world’s most advanced electronics – from detecting threats for F-35 pilots to illuminating the night for soldiers. Spanning air, land, sea, and space, we are developing the technology of tomorrow, delivered today. Drawing strength from our differences, we’re innovating for the future. And you can, too.
Our flexible work environment provides you a chance to change the world without giving up your personal life. We put our customers first – exemplified by our mission: “We Protect Those Who Protect Us®.” Sound like a team you want to be a part of? Come build your career with BAE Systems.
Current programs and studies funded by the U.S. Department of Defense require subject matter experts who can lead technical teams, establish successful and cutting edge system architectures and who can collaborate across the enterprise. On this team, you’ll have the opportunity to create and develop advanced technology capabilities in the areas of advanced electronics, laser and pointer technologies, and sensors and processing.
Primary Responsibilities:
We have a need for a senior engineer to serve in a deputy Chief Engineer role. The ideal candidate should be able to perform tasks and make informed technical decisions with minimal direction from the Chief Engineer, while working with and in direct collaboration with the Chief Engineer on various aspects of the program so that the deputy can “force multiply” the Chief Engineer function and better support the technical needs of the program. This role is key in shaping the system architecture on which a major business pursuit is based. In this role you will be a ‘hands on’ technical lead, ensuring the system(s), product(s), and service(s) being developed and delivered are viable, fit for purpose, and will satisfy customer needs, product/system requirements, and the mission and/or application.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Responsible for working with the Chief Engineer to provide technical guidance/direction to multidiscipline design activities and ensure their outcomes support the technical baseline
  • Ability to work collaboratively with HW engineering and subcontractors to define, interpret, and review analyses, to identify potential technical risk in the design, and to define potential technical risk mitigations in preparation for milestone design reviews
  • Be able to generate customer-centric technical content and presentation material. Ability to communicate why the customer cares about the technical content (impact to installed performance or mission needs) is equally as important as generating data products or summaries of technical analyses
  • Collaborate with the Chief Engineer and Program Engineering Manager on task priority and deadlines to meet program technical objectives and milestone design reviews
  • Serve as the Chief Engineer's delegate, when necessary
Please note that pursuant to a government contract, this specific position requires US citizenship status.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • At least 10 years direct experience as Subject Matter Expert in electro-optical payloads
  • Specific experience with free-space optics, to include materials, coatings, and optical assemblies
  • Demonstrated experience as a technical leader
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • MS in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related discipline
  • Requirements development and derivation from top-level needs down to sub-system needs
  • Authoring white papers/RFIs for US Gov't customers
  • Leading or contributing significantly to proposals
  • MBSE experience with MagicDraw
  • SAP/SAR eligibility

Full-Time Salary Range: $140690 - $239140
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.

Regular employees scheduled to work 20 hours per week are offered: health, dental, and vision insurance; health savings accounts; a 401(k) savings plan; disability coverage; and life and accident insurance. We also have an employee assistance program, a legal plan, and other perks including discounts on things like home, auto, and pet insurance. Our leave programs include paid time off, paid holidays, as well as other types of leave, including paid parental, military, bereavement, and any applicable federal and state sick leave.
