Job Description
BAE Systems is looking for an Electrical, Software, Computer Science or Mechanical Engineer to work directly with our transit customers to resolve series hybrid propulsion system issues and provide factory to customer support in a timely manner. Our Smart Energy Technology propels Hybrid Electric and fuel cell buses, trucks and vessels across the globe. We are looking for an individual who has a technical background, and a passion for working with our customers to identify and resolve any open concerns.

Our growing business is located in the Greater Binghamton area which is home to several sports teams, shopping centers, a growing downtown, the State University of New York at Binghamton, several large healthcare employers and some of New York’s top-ranked school districts. The area enjoys a rich heritage with multiple diverse communities with local cuisine and festival celebrations. You will make impacts in the following ways;
  • Responsible for Service and Support and providing technical guidance and service engineering support to customers and technicians
  • Responsible for BAE Systems Factory to Customer Communication and coordination with OEM leads
  • Monitor fleet availability metrics, failure rates and trends
  • Communicate reliability issues to the BAE Systems Product Support Team and support failure investigations.
  • Develop customer focused solutions for issues that arise that support both Customer and BAE Systems Product Support objectives
  • Coordinate and Execute Product Improvement or Retrofit Programs
Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely. Travel to customer sites approximately possible, up to 50% of the time. Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Electrical, Software or Mechanical Engineering and 4 years of work experience
  • Experience in full lifecycle system development including requirements, design, integration, verification and validation.
  • Technical writing skills: capable of creating required engineering documentation.
  • Experience in integration and verification testing of both electrical/mechanical equipment and software.
  • US Citizenship is a requirement
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Experience in vehicle or electronic control related development including familiarity with SAE J1939 interfaces and CAN communication.
  • Experience with development of customer requirements and vehicle system architectures.
  • Experience with Requirements Management tools (i.e. Doors) and Configuration Management tools (i.e. Synergy).
  • Experience with vehicle diagnostic equipment and procedures.
  • Working knowledge Matlab Simulink.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to lead working groups or program teams
  • Master’s Degree in Engineering or Business
  • Familiarity with Agile Software or Hardware Development Teams
