B4 Church is Hiring an Adult Discipleship Director Near Beaverton, OR

Develop and lead ministry and pastoral care for the adults of B4Church as well as the team within the adult discipleship team, aligning with the mission of B4Church. Creatively seek out opportunities to prioritize B4's mission: Behold, Belong, Be, Beyond.

Job specifics:

  • Oversee the ongoing leadership of Adult Discipleship events, maintaining a sound biblical theology, excellent stewardship of resources, and recruitment of volunteers that align with the church's vision while upholding the standards and policies established by both B4Church and ICFG.
  • Contribute to the discipleship of children, youth, young adults, and families in partnership with the Generations Director and team.
  • Serve on the Content Team and speak at services throughout B4Church as needed and assigned by the Senior Pastor.
  • Work with Executive Team leadership to develop a holistic theology and practice for discipleship at B4Church. This may include existing programs, new initiatives, and a clearly understandable discipleship pathway. The work must encourage vibrant spiritual growth at B4Church and reliably produce maturing disciple-makers.
  • Partner with the Outreach team to incorporate service opportunities into adult discipleship.
  • Research and recommend resources on spiritual formation, leadership, and management that will improve the effectiveness of the team's stewardship and contribution more broadly to the church's mission.
  • Perform all other duties necessary to oversee and pastor the leaders of all ministries included in the Adult Discipleship Team, assessing each ministry and leaders’ (staff or volunteer) alignment with B4Church values, the priorities of the Senior Pastor and take any necessary steps towards greater alignment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the executive pastor, associate pastor, or senior pastor.

Qualifications:

  • A confessing Spirit-led Christian who holds to the ICFG statement of faith. Committed to an ethical lifestyle per the B4Church employee handbook. Intent on pursuing intimacy with God. Passionate about making mature, reproducing disciples.
  • Able to maintain a high level of integrity, discernment and discretion in caring for people. Carefully handels sensitive information.
  • A self-motivated learner who continually improves vocational knowledge and skills. Teachable with a growth mindset.
  • Ability to use common workplace technology, including, but not limited to, Google Business Suite, Microsoft suites, database management and Planning Center with speed and accuracy. Willingness and aptitude to learn and use specialized computer programs & applications.
  • Demonstrates innovation, initiative, organizational skills, and professional accountability. Creatively troubleshoots and solves problems.
  • Excellent teamwork and management skills. Experience in leading ministry teams, managing multiple projects and supervising team personnel, including employees, volunteers and contractors. Pursuing collaboration to help each department contribute to strategic direction.
  • Employ strong interpersonal skills when addressing difficult situations amongst staff, volunteers, and congregants, or while negotiating. Able to engage with a broad range of people with great sensitivity to faith, belief, and personal style.
  • Frequently required to navigate changing priorities or fluctuating deadlines with an adaptive approach. Must be able to juggle frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively through oral and written formats with demonstrated ability to make effective group presentations.
  • Bachelor's degree in leadership and/or biblical studies. Experienced professional with 5-8 years job relevant, progressive and supervisory experience. Requires a Ministerial License or actively pursuing one within 24 months of appointment position.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide prayerful partnership with leadership for the overall function of the Adult Discipleship ministry.
  • Work cross-departmentally to educate and partner with other ministries.
  • Cultivate a healthy and vibrant spiritual life, maintaining life-giving rhythms by respecting the proper balance between rest and work. Offer wise, discerning spiritual care and biblical guidance to others when appropriate from the overflow of life in one’s self. Know when to provide appropriate counseling referrals.
  • Plan and oversee ministry budgets for the team. Maintain accountability for expenditures. Set a standard of careful stewardship, accurate budgeting, and proper and consistent use of finance approval and reporting systems.
  • Lead a team that provides a range of discipleship pathways for the church, including but not limited to soul care, prayer, teaching, evangelism, fellowship, and service.
  • Lead the team in all aspects of volunteer partnership, making serving at B4Church an essential component of adult discipleship. This includes but is not limited to recruiting and training, identifying proper placement placement, leadership and spiritual development, and onboarding. Ensure the team maintains good communication with volunteers. Ensure compliance with the Volunteer Application Process.
  • Continually equip, develop and release volunteers into growing leadership positions in the various (insert department) ministry groups.
  • Remain current on growing body of information, methods and resources applicable to adult discipleship.
  • Perform ongoing assessment of the team’s programs and procedures. Actively seek prayerful direction from the Lord and incorporate insights from leadership to subjectively and objectively enhance their effectiveness.
  • Research for and perform spiritual care and biblical guidance for the needs of individuals, including keeping appropriate documentation. Develop discernment skills and methods while understanding one's own limits. Know when to provide appropriate counseling referrals.
  • Work with the communications team to keep the church informed of team priorities while aligning with the vision and voice of B4Church.
  • Calendar all activities collaboratively with other directors. Ensure adequate notification for communications, facilities, and any other support staff.
  • Act as a contributing member of all requested staff/team meetings and in the pastoral responsibilities or performing baptisms, weddings, funerals, serving at all major services, etc.
  • Manage existing ministry programs and innovate new ones that nurture adult discipleship and further the church's mission.
  • Serve as a liaison for church leadership and manage expectations for the adult discipleship team, both as advocate and coach.
  • Prioritize departmental goals, programs, and tasks based on available resources.
  • Humbly welcome feedback, both personal and program-related, and model an effective culture of assessment and accountability.
  • Engage each team member with regular feedback, formal reviews, and individual plans for improvement and development.
  • Shepherd each team member by understanding their alignment with staff core values, professional competence, and spiritual vitality. Take proactive, wise, and godly measures to ensure their health and effectiveness while pastoring them well.
  • Inform supervisor and HR immediately of personnel issues that may require further counsel or escalated attention. Demonstrate discretion and wisdom in so doing.
  • Set a standard of timely completion for all ministry, budget, and project deadlines through exemplary planning. Set deadlines for team members.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $72,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
