Bühler is Hiring an Electrical Technician Near Owatonna, MN

Introduction

Sputtering Components Inc. (SCI) in Owatonna is a Company in southern Minnesota that has served customers all around the world for over 20 years. Every day, millions of people come in contact with products made using Sputtering Components equipment. Our thin film technologies are used in vacuum coating systems to make windows, smartphones, display screens, solar panels, automobile components, decorative hardware and more.
We are currently hiring an Electrical Technician who will be a part in our growing Automation team. The technician will be responsible for fabricating, installing, and troubleshooting electrical assemblies and wiring. This position will be the primary resource responsible for construction of low voltage wiring assemblies used in SCI products. This position will also play a significant role in troubleshooting malfunctioning electrical assemblies and in the implementation of new products, testing fixtures, and assemblies.
You will work within our Engineering Team and report to the Engineering Team Manager. The team is growing to support increased demand from our customers from all around the world.

Tasks

  • Repair, install, and inspect electronics or electronic systems as directed through verbal or written directions, diagrams, drawings, or specifications
  • Fabrication of cable assemblies and cabled devices (soldering, crimping, wiring terminals) in support of manufacturing
  • Programming of electronic devices (drives, PLCs, etc) under the supervision of the controls engineer
  • Assist, under supervision, with wiring of complex control panels
  • Rapidly construct/assist in the creation of test fixtures and collection of data
  • Perform quality tests on SCI products under direction of the controls engineer and quality control
  • Travel up to 10% as mutually agreed

Required qualifications

  • Vocational certificate or equivalent experience
  • Background working with a variety of electrical and electronic equipment
  • Certified electronic technician (CETa) credentials desirable
  • Ability to read mechanical prints and electrical schematics
  • Keen attention to detail, pride, and consistency in workmanship
  • Must have great organizational skills and be able to multitask across projects
  • Strong communication skills
