Assistant Project Manager -Utilities and Communication

Summary: B&D Excavating is looking for an experienced Assistant Project Manager to join our team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in Wet and Dry Underground Utilities and communications.

The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for overseeing projects from planning through completion. This position will ensure that all work is done on time and within the projected budget. Must have the ability to foresee potential issues, manage labor, and materials to ensure timely project completion.

The Assistant Project Manager will work consistently with staff regarding project details, will evaluate the effectiveness of a project plan and be able to make necessary changes as needed. The Assistant Project Manager needs to be able to motivate and direct staff to ensure delivery of a successful and profitable project.

Responsibilities and Duties:

· Overseeing projects, from planning to completion.

  • Use project scope of work to determine and define the best plan to complete each task effectively.
  • Ability to go to job sites
  • Supervise construction activities in conjunction with onsite Foreman and Superintendents to ensure project is on schedule and on budget.
  • Manage construction schedule and activities.
  • Must have experience in the field on job sites.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and proactively come up with solutions.
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier relationships.
  • Coordinate material procurement so materials are on site when needed to avoid running to get materials and supplies.
  • Ensure all Company, Safety, OSHA, and local rules and regulations are adhered to.
  • Ensure all jobs sites and company property, to include vehicles and equipment are clean and in good working order.
  • Maintain effective communication and good working relationships with staff, vendors, customers, and others.
  • Troubleshoots problems and manages change requests.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of standards, practices, and procedures.
  • Represent the company in meetings.
  • Analyze proposals and change orders.
  • Must be able to complete Cost analysis
  • Able to report billing and invoices.

Qualifications and Skills:

· 3-5 years’ experience as a project manager

  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and drawings is required.
  • Driver’s license and good driving record is required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer software.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project a Plus.
  • Must have strong leadership and management skills.
  • Strong work ethic must be motived and willing to mentor staff and help them learn and grow.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are a must.
  • Great attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies is a must.
  • Must be able to prioritize work and meet project deadlines.

· $65,000 - $85,000 (based on experience)
