Base wage range is $17- $19/hour dependent on education, experience, responsibilities and performance.

Effective wage range for this position (base wage plus value of PTO, paid holidays, bonuses, benefits and more) extends up to $25/hour!

Position Summary

The sterilization technician prepares instruments and equipment for scheduled procedures and monitors the sterilizing equipment. The technician maintains control of the inventory of all tools, instruments and equipment in the sterilization room in the clinical department for AZPerio. This particular position requires flexibility to travels between our 5 valley locations to support and learn from multiple teams.

Minimum Requirements

1. High School Graduate

2. Knowledge of infection control and emergency response procedures.

3. Excellent customer service, communication and interpersonal skills.

4. Proficiency in computer and keyboarding.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in all tasks and responsibilities in the surgical department and provides technical assistance when needed.

2. Sterilization of instruments – both surgical and hygiene

3. Oversee the inventory and contents of the sterilization room.

4. Restocking of supplies in treatment rooms.

5. Lubrication of surgical and implant hand pieces.

6. Preparation and cleanup of treatment rooms for surgical procedures.

7. Assist co-workers in the clinical and hygiene departments in tasks such as disinfection of treatment rooms and assisting with charting with both clinical and hygiene departments

8. Cleaning of sterilizer monthly and weekly steristrip monitoring of sterilizers

9. Demonstrates knowledge of and supports, company mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.

10. Any other relevant duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Knowledge and understanding of dental surgery and associated procedures, terminology, and techniques, including periodontal instruments and implant surgery.

2. Knowledge of CPR and emergency procedures.

3. Knowledge of office software, including DSN, Dexis and digital imaging software.

4. Knowledge of exceptional customer service standards.

5. Active listening skills to give attention to what other people are saying, take time to understand the points being made, asking questions, as appropriate.

6. Active learning skills to understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem solving and decision-making.

7. Strong time management skills; the ability to multi-task and establish priorities, to manage one’s own time and the time of others for efficient flow of work in the clinical department.

8. Ability to communicate effectively sensitive information, when speaking and/or writing, to respond quickly/ thoroughly to maximize customer satisfaction to common inquiries on dental procedures and/or complaints from patients and co-workers.

9. Ability to multi-task; to organize, coordinate, and prioritize work efficiently and to work under stress, with interruptions and deadlines; to concentrate on a task over a period of time, without being distracted.

10. Ability to read, listen to, and understand information and ideas presented verbally and/or in writing for input into the computer information system.

11. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where broad standardization exists; to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong; to recognize and solve the problem.

12. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form; to follow complex instructions and think logically in following procedures and instructions.

13. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on assigned tasks, as well as to accept direction on given assignments.

14. Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment; maintaining a flexible attitude and approach towards assignments.

Working Conditions

· Work is performed in an interior medical/clinical environment that is well lighted and clean.

· Moderate physical activity may be necessary. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

· Work environment involves some exposure to hazards and/or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
