How You’ll Add Value

The Biobank Technician for Customer Site Sample Management (CSSM) is responsible for understanding and performing all functions related to processing samples, and ensuring that all SOPs are properly followed, maintaining communications, including reporting functions, within Sample Management BioBank while ensuring customer needs are met.

What You’ll Do

Manage all aspects of Sample Management BioBank, consumables, supplies and general inventory. Manage sample processing requests from customers to include package receipt, in-bound shipments, data entry, sample accessioning, sample labeling, assignment of storage and processing of discard requests via inventory system or manually created and unscheduled shipments Register hand-built samples; import manifests previously broken down and QC content including formatting. Perform simple laboratory tasks including aliquoting, media preparation and the like. Facilitate resolution of query requests. Perform or facilitate the creation of client specific SOPs, Project Definitions and other customer documents. Facilitate inbound and outbound shipments including contact with sender and receiver sites. Manage customer’s inventory and provide information to customers upon request. Perform required freezer preventative maintenance. Assist with the validation and calibration of essential BioBank equipment. Ensure equipment and facility is maintained in good working order. Ensure all service failures are identified, investigated, and reported appropriately. Proactively manage and drive the resolution of client issues while promoting continuous process improvement. Assist in developing, implementing, validating and testing of new processes and equipment. If applicable, direct the daily activities of BioBank staff and assign work to achieve the greatest effectiveness. Assist others in resolving technical or operational problems to ensure an accurate and timely resolution. If applicable, train staff in operational processes such as receipt, data entry, registration, labeling and storage of samples. Maintain a safe work environment by following all established safety and universal precautions guidelines and procedures. Ensure adherence to all ALS quality and safety policies and SOPs as well as assigned location safety policies. Perform routine and non-routine quality checks as directed. Maintain own training file and required documentation. Provide management with reports/data as required. Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • OR Associate Degree 2 years of relevant experience
  • OR HS Diploma 4 years of relevant experience
  • GMP/GTP/CLIA Experience, preferred
  • Life Science degree preferred
  • Sample management experience preferred
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Demonstrate high level of initiative and ability to work independently
  • Experience working on team projects with tight timelines
  • Ability to be highly effective at communication across functional areas
  • Proficient with Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and make good judgment about what to reveal to customers
  • Ability to multitask and have methodical work habits
  • Basic understanding of clinical research, GMP, GLP, GCP and IATA/DOT regulations. Ability to work within regulations regarding potentially infectious materials
  • Ability to discern colors

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Extended periods of standing or sitting
  • Right- and left-hand finger dexterity
  • Ability to discern colors or use of color correction glasses
  • Ability to work with refrigerants (e.g., dry ice and LNs) using proper PPE

Your Working Conditions:

  • Employee will be working on an area with potentially infectious materials. Employee will be responsible for maintaining a clean work environment and enforce and follow universal precautions for bloodborne pathogens when working in an area considered to be potentially contaminated.
